The purchase of multiple website domains had tipped us off last week regarding what the title might be for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, but Sony Pictures officially announced Spider-Man Homecoming tonight during its big presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas!

In addition to the official title card for the 2017 standalone movie which you can see above, the presentation also had star Tom Holland make a brief appearance just hours after attending the red carpet premiere of Captain America: Civil War, in which he will debut. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony presented a clip from that upcoming Marvel Studios threequel which had Tony Stark meeting Peter Parker at his Aunt May’s house.

As you might have guessed, “Homecoming” refers both to Peter Parker being in high school as well as the fact that he is now established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he belongs. The studio didn't address whether or not Spider-Man: Homecoming will be an adaptation of the comic book story of the same name, but what you do you think?

Starring Tom Holland (Peter Parker), Zendaya (Michelle?), and Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Spider-Man: Homecoming will be directed by Jon Watts, and will open on July 7, 2017.

@BlackStar25 - Why does it look like a logo for a 12 year old cartoon show? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Okay, it says it's official, but I'm skeptical. Looks like a cartoon logo.

@Luminus - Pretty sure that's not going to be the final title card. Marvel has always changed the look of their title cards in the past.

@Yuriko - I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the logo on the title card for a movie that EVERYONE is going to know about and that is more than a year away. It's not like they are trying to sell us on a character nobody knows and they need to get everything right. It's a Spiderman movie. Everyone knows who Spiderman is. Relax.

@kong - Nice try? Not trying anything what you showed is NOT the title card of the film, which is what we are talking about.

@DarthGrizzly - I would say probably the Spidey one only because it's not centred very well, and it's too busy.

@nikgrid - Yeah but the picture in the article above is not the title card, it's the promotional logo used for marketing.

@Indy - What does Homecoming have to do with being in High school?

We dont use that phrase in Australia??
valeriesghost
valeriesghost - 4/12/2016, 11:14 PM
@UltimateTypeface - Homecoming refers to the homecoming game and dance at high schools every fall. It's usually a big football game every year followed by a dance. Like prom but less formal.
