Back in May, a PlayStation Showcase event concluded by finally giving us a first look at Insomniac Games' Spider-Man 2. The footage kicked off with a sequence which wouldn't look out of place in a Turok reboot, but we'd soon learn the mystery character was Kraven the Hunter.
He's on the way to New York City for his biggest hunt yet, targeting both Spider-Men along with the sinister foes they've faced (such as The Lizard). Venom will also be front and centre, though we're expecting Kraven to be an antagonist on the same level as whoever is wearing the symbiote.
Talking of the alien suit, we now have two new character posters for Spider-Man 2 featuring Symbiote Spider-Man and Kraven the Hunter (via GameFragger.com), with the latter embarking on this hunt to "obtain exactly what he desires." What that is remains to be seen.
When Kraven and his hunters arrive in the city, it sets off a mystery of why they are there and who, and what, they are hunting. But as the Spider-Men and Mary Jane Watson dig deeper into Kraven’s motivations, it's said Peter Parker's new symbiote will threaten both New York and everyone and everything they hold dear.
Take a closer look at both new posters for Spider-Man 2 below.
Kraven the Hunter first appeared in 1964's Amazing Spider-Man #15. He has since become one of the web-slinger's most formidable foes, becoming a founding member of the Sinister Six and occasionally even coming into conflict with other heroes, such as Black Panther and Tigra. He is the half-brother of the Chameleon.
The character has been featured in a number of Spider-Man adaptations over the years including animated series and video games. However, it will be Aaron Taylor-Johnson who brings the character to live-action as part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe in 2024's Kraven the Hunter movie.
"Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure," reads the synopsis, "in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise."
"Swing, jump and utilise the new Web Wings to travel across Marvel’s New York, quickly switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales to experience different stories and epic new powers, as the iconic villain Venom threatens to destroy their lives, their city and the ones they love."
Spider-Man 2 swings into stores on October 20.
