SPIDER-MAN PS4: Here's How Long It Will Take You To Complete The Game

We're less than two weeks away from the release of Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 and it has now been revealed how long the main story will take players to complete minus side quests and DLC. Check it out!

Spider-Man is set to be released next week and while the wait for the game has been agonising, it sounds like it will keep us all busy for a very long time to come. As you can see below, Insomniac Games Community Director James Stevenson has revealed that the average test gamer took around 20+ hours to finish the main storyline without including the vast majority of side quests and activities (and DLC).

That's incredible and much longer than the Arkham trilogy and given the open world nature of the game and the fact Insomniac is planning to release plenty of DLC, we can probably expect to be swinging through this one for a good 50 hours or more (possibly longer if you're a completist and want to find every single collectible and reach the highest level for the wall-crawler's fighting abilities, etc.).

So far, the only confirmed DLC we know of will revolve around Black Cat but common sense there will be a lot more as Insomniac looks to keep gamers hooked for as long as possible over the coming years.

20 hours sounds okay. Kinda hoped for more, since I'm not a fan of side quests in games.

@BootyPeep - I hope the side quests are as interesting as the God of War one's. They really extended the game's 25 hour gameplay without making it uninteresting.

@BootyPeep - Considering that most single player games are only about 8-12 hours long, this isn't "okay". Its pretty great.

Especially considering that doesn't include side quests. Just about any open world game can also have their story missions completed in the same amount of time if you only do those.

It's your choice to ignore the meat of the content in these games when you decide not to do side missions. That 20 hours of gameplay can really get stretched out much further if you do them. And if you are enjoying the game then why wouldn't you do them?

@CorndogBurglar - The thing with open world games for me:
I get quickly bored with side quests. I play games mostly for the story or multiplayer experience.

The content IS good, at least for the quantity we've read and seen so far and I'm really excited for this game.
But I know that I won't touch this game again for a while when I'm done with the story.

@RageDriver2401 - True, God of War's side quests were interesting. Only the gameplay disappointed me a bit, since it wasn't that heavy on Hack/Slay like previous games. But it was still a great experience.
And for my Hack/Slay desires, Devil May Cry 5 will come out this year. :D

@BootyPeep - 20 hours for a main quest is plenty.

@BootyPeep - Its funny because I get what you are saying and actually agree. I won't keep playing once I finish the main story either.

That's why I make sure I do the side missions first.

Luckily, most good open world games have little mini stories for their side quests. They may not have anything to do with the main story, but sometimes they can be really great.

I've found it more and more difficult for me to complete longer games now. As much as I love it, I've still not finished Persona 5. Glad to see this offers a good amount of length without being overly padded.

@AbidNaga - Time is a factor for me. Playing Injustice 2 only at the moment, haven't cracked open my God of War yet.

I work long hours so have to use my free time wisely...maybe I should put in some leave for gaming.

@AbidNaga - to be fair, Persona 5 is probably one of the longest games ever haha

I think it's a little short

I hate GTA style side-missions;
TheGambitFreak
TheGambitFreak - 8/27/2018, 5:03 AM
@ODanil - Then be prepared. One of the villains in the game's only purpose is to give you time trials and obstacle courses like chasing your drone through magically appearing hoops in the sky.
TheGambitFreak
TheGambitFreak - 8/27/2018, 5:02 AM
The guy that leaked the game early beat it in 12 hours. He skipped all cutscenes but the secret villain reveal. After he did that, pre-orders started getting canceled. Stevenson has been doing hilariously desperate Twitter damage control all week. He never once confirmed how long the campaign is, only that the "average" play took about 20 hours.

Snowbirdd - 8/27/2018, 9:24 PM
@TheGambitFreak - lol damn. If he skipped the cutscenes then that doesn't really count :/ pretty sure the average player wouldn't do that.

I couldn't control myself, I saw one of the leaks and know who the leader of the Sinister Six is, if anyone wants to know..

Plenty long enough for me and my limited gaming time! Horizon Zero Dawn is currently dominating my few hours of game time!
