Stan Lee Has Some Advice For Andrew "Spider-Man" Garfield!

The creator of Spider-Man shares his advice for what Andrew Garfield should do in order to really bring Peter Parker to life on the big screen come 2012...

"The best way to bring Spider-Man to the screen is to make it seem very natural — just to be a very simple, everyday, ordinary kid who happens to be good at science and wishes he were more than he is," Lee told MTV News at the New York Comic Con.

"He wishes he were more popular with the guys. He wishes the girls would pay a little more attention to him. He wishes he could make more money, because he worries about his aunt who has to pay the rent, and it's kind of tough for her. He doesn't want her to lose her house."

"He should have the kind of concerns that so many teenagers have," the legendary comic creator added. "The thing about Spider-Man, one of the things that makes him so popular, is the fact that you can relate to him."

"He's not that different from the average guy, except he's able to crawl on walls and swing on webs!"

@ joshw

can't watch it in england,mate.

i'm not sure if his the right choice for spider-man,just like chris evans as captain america.

i just have to wait & see.

as for the villain the lizard awesome, but i don't think the lizard can carry a movie as the only villain.

i hope they add someone else.

And that is why Stan is The Man.

deadpool: Same here unfortunately mate! :( That's why I always make sure to include MTV's transcription of the interview...their videos normally work here though so I dont get why it's not this time! Personally, I am sure that both he and Evans are right for their respective roles. It's Marc Webb and Joe Johnston that I'm worried about, lol! And yeah, the Lizard cant carry an entire movie unless they plan on spending some time redoing Peter's origin story. If not, someone like Electro would be an ideal time filler!

... and he has a great sense of humor. He should just do stand up as his 'day job'

Intruder: I saw some online speculation that Ifans would play the Ultimate reality TV show version of Kraven which might have been interesting...he's not a character I'm that desperate to see though regardless of which version they use! Electro would be the perfect choice for this movie especially as it's in 3D. Have you ever read Mark Millar's Marvel Knights Spider-Man? Electro and Vulture make a surprisingly awesome team in that series which would have also been interesting to see IMO! :)

@josh - Ditto on the directors.

The Lizard can carry the story IF they are brave enough to go with the old intelligent version of the lizard.

CaptainProg - Raimi dropped the ball by not having Spider-man cover up his insecurity with his banter. that's what needs to change. Not the fact that he was an average guy.

@ intruder

i think aaron johnson(kick ass)could of potrayed peter parker in the high school years & probably when his working for the bugle.

but if they were making a spider-man 4 contiuation reboot i'd go for jake gyllenhaal.

@ Captain--- Exactly! We already had the nerdy insecure Peter Parker. & Geez, 3 movies with a damsel in distress finale. Not that i'm ripping on Raimi's trilogy, cuz i luv them (SM3 not do much), but i was really looking forward to Peter's growth. Especially after the events of SM3. Now i gotta watch nerdy Parker get his powers all over again

Not so great an advice.

If you don't want this to be a reboot, that is. Because that's soooo the description of the very early Peter Parker.

Apparently, however, this is a reboot. Oh well, there goes your reboot continuation, Leee. LOL!

I love Stan but he doesn't need to give any acting tips, especially when they're so obvious. In order for the actor to succeed in the role, he needs to become the role? That's groundbreaking advice! :P

This film to me is already shaping up to be so much better than Raimi's abortion trilogy. The simple fact that McGuire and Dunst are long gone is an instant improvement.
