The novelty is lost. I used to have considerable respect for Stan, but he is too big a ham for my liking. Marvel movies have a way of adding too much comic relief. Some call is cheesy-camp, which I'm not a fan of. Don't get me wrong, Stan's cameos don't ruin any of the movies, the abundunce of cheese does that. Is it too much to ask Marvel to take themselves more seriously? Yah, all this coming from someone that calls himself Fartypants ;)

It just fills my heart with joy that a man of that age still has so much of a sense of fun and a clear lust for life.

Maybe we can all learn a little from his good example...

...and this is news WHY?! Stan talking about his latest cameo is about as 'news'-worthy as Snookie tweeting about her daily tanning regiment - who the !@#$ really cares?! The 'Man' is nothing more than a publicity whore!

@loganoneil- I agree with you 100% bro. Just not gonna elaborate because I got my arse chewed out for a remark i made about Chris Reeve, one guy threatened my life and my family. lol

Seriously.

Anyway, this cameo sounds stupid. Look I love Spidey and I am looking forward to this film. But if Stan HAD to have a cameo, that cameo just sounds cheesy. Him dancing around with earphones while a battle ensues behind him while he's blissfully unaware.

I aint attacking Stan Lee...I'm attacking his cameo, it sounds really lame.

With all his success, Stan remains so humble and so able to laugh at himself. And while I agree with @ReillyParker in the fact that he's that loveable old grandpa, he's also been able to connect on so many levels with a fanbase that, for the most part, is so much younger than he!

loganoneil says "The 'Man' is nothing more than a publicity whore!"

LP4 says "@loganoneil: I agree with you 100% bro"

then further continues "I aint attacking Stan Lee...I'm attacking his cameo, it sounds really lame."

neonrehan says "interesting logic LP4"

Both of you should watch Kevin Smith's interview DVD of Stan Lee from a couple years ago. Stan Lee is really a very honest and respectful individual. Not because of how he pokes fun of himself, but because of how he goes great lengths to credit the creative elements he's been around. Don't be so arrogant as to insult him and then say you love Spider-Man in the same sentence. Spider-Man's stories originated from Stan Lee obviously so thats a given why you shouldn't insult him. The next point is little tid bits like how his persona in the real world is comical..get it...comical...meaning satirical...meaning they allow you to remove yourself from the drudgeries of common life... which is BORING...

As for the comments on how Marvel is too involved in comic relief in their movies, I'm really disappointed in how ties are made too Stan's cameos? Then get angry at the idea of "easter eggs" because its lame that they're in EVERY MOVIE. It's homage to the fans of Stan Lee and part of tradition. Kind of like how Stan Lee started many of his own traditions as Chief Editor of Marvel. Remember the bull pen and editor's corner? Did you think it was stupid that the creators had a box to joke around in with their readers? I doubt it, and now til this day its common place in MANY comic productions.

Then secondly, in my other point, if you're criticizing Marvel (the production responsible for the very same comic literature being brought to cinema) and then Stan Lee (a forerunner in bringing adult stories to comic book super heroes from the 60s onward) then you're criticizing the hand that feeds you.

Stop double dipping. Stop it. Just stop it. Stop it. stop it... enough. go eat some ice-cream.

Neonreban - Don't drink the Kool-aid, my friend! I HAVE seen the Kevin Smith interview, but remember one thing - Smith was never around when Stan was ACTUALLY running things! He's just another fanboy spreading the same tired PR story Lee's been kicking out for decades! If they're still around, talk to some of the old-timers at the cons (off the record, of course) about how benevolent 'The Man' REALLY was about 'spreading the credit around' (and just how 'involved' he REALLY was in the creative process)! Why do you think Marvel lost SOOOO much of its talent during the later years of Stan's reign? He's an arrogant @ss who's in love with his own public image, NOTHING MORE! Excelsior this, you old fart!!!!
