TASM 2: New Image Of Spidey Ahead Of Tomorrow's Trailer Premiere

Sony Pictures has been releasing mostly previously seen pics from Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man sequel in the build up to the trailer debut, but they've finally given us something new. Check out the wall crawler striking a very familiar pose after the jump.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.

Those eyes!!! Those beautiful white eyes!

That suit alone would make TASM2 worth watching. Add to it Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper and Dane Dehaan...

Should be 'Amazing" ;)

USA Today published a very cool sneak peek on The Amazing Spider-Man. Here are some of the main excerpts:

"I wanted to create something operatic, something huge. And if anything, this film is about the greatest battle Spider-Man's ever had to face," Webb says. "You'll understand and feel the intensity and the overwhelming nature of the obstacles in Spider-Man's path."

And while Parker promised to keep Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) out of his masked lifestyle, he's also "madly, crazily in love with her," says the director. "She plays a crucial, terrifyingly pivotal role in the film."

"Our story deals a lot in choice," Garfield says. "The power that you attain as a human being, it is your choice about what to do with it. And what's great about Spider-Man is he went from having no power, and the idea that absolute power corrupts absolutely, that is an incredibly rich idea to explore."

There are a hell of lot more stuff in the link below:

The costume does look good and the Spidey Poses and cgi will be good but I fear the story won't be.

Everyone can crack jokes about the Rhino, Green Goblin, or even Electro, but out of all the DBMS this is the closet we will ever to get to comic book accurate when it comes to costumes.

Yeah Yeah Ironman is pretty close and Hulk does not count either.

As of right now the suit is the only thing going for this movie. Everything else is pretty sub par. I'm hoping that changes but idk...

@ Joe

Agreed 100%.

Pulling from Ultimates and 616 universe will work out great, so far I love all the designs. Really wanna see Rhino in HD, to get the full effect of the costume.

I'll give you the Spider-Man costume is nigh on perfect.

And sure, let's wait and see how the movie turns out. Always good advice.
HOWEVER,that promotional poster for ASM2 that we're all talking about, doesn't have any of the villains that we've been reading for years. Not one of them looks ANYTHING like their comic counterpart. If you showed those images to anyone who is a fan of the comic book and ask them which of Spidey's villains they were, no one would be able to identify them. MAYBE some would say that the guy on the glider was a new Hob-Goblin. But that's as close as they'd get. Shouldn't they AT LEAST be recognizable as the character they purport to be?

Two caveats:
1) NO! I absolutely DO NOT mean that Jamie Fox should be decked out in Steve Ditko's original design. Of course compromises for the movie must be made. But Hoodie Man just ain't cuttin' it. It's NOT Electro. It's Emperor Palpitine before he goes far, far, away.

 photo 1523204-against_electro_zps50929e09.jpg

2) Don't bother me with the lamest of all lame arguments, "But he's not the 616 Electro - he's the 1610 Ultimate version."
Huh?
I say again . . . HUH?!?
You mean the Ultimate Universe that's being cancelled? You mean the "ultimate" universe whose sales suck so bad they'll barely satisfy Galactus as an appetizer? THAT 1610 universe? Clearly this was crap because all they're going to die and only (yet ANOTHER) Spider-Man, Miles Morales, will survive.

I only hope that the bad-non-costumes won't be so distracting that the movie suffers. But even if it's a great film - it'll be a great film of Spider-Man fighting three unrecognizable evil doers.

@KrazyForKomix -Dudebro, I totally get what yer saying. But the dude/thing to the left actually looks like a rampaging robotic RHINOCERUS, and the dude in the Hoodie has LIGHTNING coming outta him, so it's kinda obvious who these are. I was surprized to see Rhino depicted on all fours, mind you. From production stills it's obvious the Rhino suit receded to show you Alexei's face at least. Maybe he can walk on his 'hind legs'? Don't really care myself, 'cause he's still gonna pose the very same kinda threat as he does in the comics.
As for Electro, I'm sure you MUST've seen the images of him in an actual powers-accommodating suit that's more reminiscent of the Ultimate Spidey comics. You don't really think that hoodie'll last long on him while he's shooting piping-hot electrical bolts out of himself, do you? This poster's just a tease, a good one, in my sense, but on the other hand.....it'd have been SUPER cool to make things resemble comic book looks as well.

At least the costume looks good. Damn shame Emma's got to be killed though!

Not a ASM hater. I enjoyed most of that movie (not all of though). It was not a perfect film. It could have been much better. I don't think that qualifies me as a childishly defined "hater."

AGAIN . . . I say I'm NOT asking for a stitch by stitch recreation of the comic book uniform/costumes that Ditko gave us. There HAVE to be differences between the comic and the film.
Duh-uh!
But they should at least BE costumes. A hoodie and jeans? REALLY? Wow - what imagination! That must have taken them all night! Those poor, overworked designers.
And the Billy Idol get up isn't any better. Awesome! He put on a leather jacket. That'll strike fear into the citizenry.

I can't believe I'm going to agree with OldGreg...

So far, for me, everything about this movie screams greatness. The costume designs all around, the casting, that Viral site is awesome, and has thrown in so many nods to Spidey fans. The beginning of the Sinister Six! The classic Spiderman humour will be even MORE prevalent, What more could a webhead want?

This movie is starting to become my most anticipated CBM ever! They are blowing me away with every tidbit of info we get.

You really haven't seen the suit they give Electro in this film??? -I'm not talking about the hoodie, man; it's CLEAR he only grabbed this here look to be inconspicuous (Via Production stills) as he escapes Oscorp. I guarantee you his 'hoodie and jeans' don't last very long on screen. He has an ACTUAL costume. Or am I speaking into the wind, here, bro?

Not to be a whiner, but it'd be SO cool if they gave us promotional images WORTHY of The Webbed One's Amazing talents, not just him standing around ABOUT TO shoot webs. -But still, it's good.
KrazyForKomix
KrazyForKomix - 12/4/2013, 7:06 AM
@ Lem1

Yes, I have seen those pics (of Foxx) in a suit. But I reject the argument that just because you see it in an Ultimate Comic means that they are being faithful to the comic books. NOBODY thinks of Electro that way. Sure, it's any interesting take on one of MANY possible Elseworlds/What If potentialities.
But it's not even close to Electro. Nor "Green Goblin," and I'll wait and see if the "tease poster" of the movie that is SUPPOSED to draw us in, actually supplies the goods.
