Access Hollywood reporter Scott Mantz had a chance to speak to Stan Lee at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. See what he has to say about the upcoming film, The Amazing Spider-Man and its lead, Andrew Garfield.

“I am Tobey Maguire’s biggest fan. He’s talented, he’s the nicest guy in the world, nobody could have done a better job on ‘Spider-Man’ than he did,”

“But, Andrew Garfield brings his own charisma to this role and he’s as good as Tobey was. I think people are going to love him.”

Although just as good, Stan ensures us that it is a very different performance:

“He doesn’t imitate Tobey, he does his own version of it,” Stan told Scott. “Just as Tobey was the essence of Peter Parker, so is Andrew Garfield.”

"You’ll love it!”

The Amazing Spider-Man is set to release this summer on July 3rd.

Yeah, Stan the Man has to be expected to give the thumbs up to both of them. I do wish he'd elaborated a bit, though. Maybe "Tobey brought out this aspect of the character, whereas I feel Andrew did more of THIS..." About the last thing I want is to imagine a repeat of Maguire's performance.

Blah. Oh well.

Even if he didn't like Garfield, he is not going to say that he sucks because that would be poor promoting tactics. Anyway, I have yet to see anything that Garfield has done that I liked so I don't know if he'll pull off the Peter Parker I'm hoping for.

Stan praises EVERY-GOD-DAMN-THING.

Years ago,I actually returned Lightspeed to HMV for a refund because I bought it for my young kids and felt the excessive gore and violence was inappropriate to be in the kids section.

Actually, I would have kept it for myself but the movie stunk sooooooooo badly, on sooooooooo many levels, that I felt I had to get my money back.

Yeah, Stan is great, but he never really criticizes anything. He's just happy to be included.

I just wonder? what Stan Lee doesn't like??

He approves everything? What is he affraid of? He is Stan the Man, If he does not like it he should say it!!!

But everytime someone asks him he approves and likes it!!!

I'm sure that Andrew Garfield will bring out a great a performance as ol' Webhead. I mean, sure we haven't seen any other footage from the movie, or a new trailer, but from the looks of it, I think that it'll be a summer hit, just as The Avengers and The Dark Knight Returns will be. :D

Stay EPIC, my friends!

This movie is going to be less campy than Ramis, which is a good thing in my opinion
