Spider-Man 4 Recast Rumor Officially Denied by Sony

After Latino Review dropped the bomb yesterday (5/27/2008) that "trusted sources" had named Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) as the number one choice of producers Laura Ziskin and Grant Curtis to replace Tobey Maguire in the next Spider-Man movie, Internet movie news sites went wild trying to confirm the story.

CHUD checked with the actor himself, finding that Fugit had "heard no talk about the new Spider-Man movie."

But final word came from Sony/Columbia, the production company behind the Spidey franchise, when they emailed many major movie news sites to quash the rumor mill.

The email says, "the information is unsupported and not true," and add "This rumor is ridiculous"
