New VFX Breakdown Video For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: "Animated Character Shot Build"

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 might not have been the film we hoped it would be, but if it managed to get anything right, it's the VFX (and of course the suit). Sony Pictures Imageworks has released another VFX breakdown video giving us a better look at how they brought Spidey to life.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features:
Director: Marc Webb
Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn
Sally Field as May Parker
Campbell Scott as Richard Parker
Embeth Davidtz as Mary Parker
Colm Feore as Donald Menken
Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino
Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn
Marton Csokas as Dr.Kafka
B.J. Novak as Alistair Smythe
Martin Sheen as Ben Parker
Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson
Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy
Felicity Jones as Felicia

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out on Blu-ray/DVD NOW!

do not [frick] the next villain ... just don't. Spot, Kraven/Vermin, Hobgoblin, Chameleon, Kingpin or Scorpion fot the villain. And no young Peter. Please.

Such a great movie. In tribute to what might've been, I'm watching this and Green Lantern tonight :)

Part of me really wants to post half of this article I've written which does nothing but bash TASM2 and explain all it's problems (which there are more then people realize).

Another part of me is just gonna post FilmCritHulk's response to the film:

Electro's motivation is the same as a girl who had a one night stand with a guy and the guy doesn't remember her name.

Think about that for a second.

This one is pretty great too, it's narrated by animation supervisor David Schaub. It sounds like him narrating both videos.

imo Electro motivations were terrible. btw no more ultimate versions of villains.

So you're saying TASM2 copied IM3.

Interesting how you don't hate TASM2 but you hate IM3....

@Jollem
i don't give a crap :) Molina was good. But the comic version of Dock Ock was different.

@0megaDaGr0dd
really ? that happened in the comics ? i tried to read first issues of Ultimate but i couldn't. As far as i know they made most of the villains some monster types. Tell me if i'm wrong.

i'm used to the old versions of villains from older comics. Scorpion has a good bacstory, his despite for Jameson and all. As i recall.

@Jollem
i like the Clone Saga version of Dock Ock the most. Molina presence remind me of that version. But i don't think Spiderman 2 is all that great. It has some good ideas though.

i'm not keen too read Ultimates comics. I've tried, i stopped. There are probably some good ideas there too (for the villains backstory, i mean) but i'm not interested. Call me old fashioned.

The special effects were fantastic -- the rest of the movie just wasn't up to snuff.
