DC Fans Create Petition To Shut Down Rotten Tomatoes After Negative SUICIDE SQUAD Reviews

With the shockingly low score on Rotten Tomatoes, some hardcore fans and supporters have taken it upon themselves to create a petition to bring down the reviewing giant. Take a look.

Earlier, the official reviews for Suicide Squad were unleashed and... they were really negative. Currently at a 34% low on the reviewing site Rotten Tomatoes, DC's latest effort turned out to be another dud from a critical standpoint. Some fans took those numbers to heart and a petition has been created to shut down the site.

The petition's description reads: "We need this site to be shut down because It's Critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust Bad Reviews, Like 1- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2016 [,] 2- Suicide Squad 2016 and that Affects people's opinion even if it's a really great movies".

Well, there you have it, folks. While hardcore fans have done crazy things before, this does take the cake.

Suicide Squad arrives August 5th.
 It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

So I suppose these idiots don't realize that just shutting down rotten tomatoes won't actually get rid of negative reviews, those reviews are all collected from other sources. Screams desperate and pathetic

@Gibman -
If this actually worked, I'd love to see how they respond to Metacritic. On a side note, why do other people's negative opinions matter that much to them when we all haven't even seen it yet?
Gibman

@Darkknight2149 - because some people can only feel validated by others approval. For example I really enjoyed the movie After Earth, I realize I am in the minority and I realize it's not a popular opinion but that doesn't affect how I feel about it personally

@Darkknight2149 - I think it's because of the shitheads who use them as fuel to attack fans of DC Films. At least that's why I am sick of Rotten Tomatoes. Every time this happens, trolls use it as the Bible to support their claim that "the movie sucked" whether or not it did, and none of the DC Films have sucked before. Also, Batman v Superman bombed because of the unearned garbage 27% score. People are sick of the trolling, they are sick of the links to watch the movie free elsewhere, and they are sick of good movies getting ignored because critics seem to have some vendetta against DC Films, whether it's the unfamiliarity with the new form of comic book movie that has been introduced by DC Films, or the the fact that they aren't the Burton, Nolan, or Donner movies, I don't know. But critics have been so much harsher than they should be on DC Films and then these ass clowns who celebrate this act like it's an early Christmas and use it to say "See? I was right." Despite the fact that they haven't seen the movie. The whole thing is literally driving people crazy.

@AMrSundayGirl58 -
There are plenty of trolls on the Internet and BVS would have made more if not for poor word-of-mouth. However, I don't think petitioning for the entire RT site to be shut down is the way to handle it, and this sort of thing gives these abominable trolls the reaction they want. The best way to spite an obvious troll is to not react.

@AMrSundayGirl58 - what about the ass clowns that start a petition because SS got bad reviews despite them not seeing the movie yet?

@AMrSundayGirl58 - So, to break down your argument, you think RT should be shut down because:

A) People use low RT scores to "attack" fans of the low-scoring films. While I don't agree with trolling and the kind of behaviour you describe, I don't see how this could be considered RT's fault.

B) People use it to justify their arguments that films you enjoy are bad. Again, I don't see how this is a problem with RT. If you've chosen to argue for the merits of a film, then of course other people have the same right to argue against the merits. They aren't obliged to like it just because you do, and if a majority of people dislike a film, their opinion is just as valid as yours. You just don't seem to like being in the minority.

C) You blame RT for films underperforming. First, unless you are a WB executive, I'm not sure why you care. Secondly, a great del of research has shown that reviews have a pretty small impact on box office. Audience word of mouth is much more important.

D) You think critics are on a "vendetta" against DCEU films. But your only evidence is that you like the films more than the critics do. Could it not be the case that the majority of critics don't agree with your taste (see above).

E) "The whole thing is literally driving people crazy." I agree that demanding the closure of RT because a movie earned a low score is pretty irrational. Keeping in mind that the word "fans" is derived from "fanatics," could it be that the issue does not lie with the critics?

@NurseDoom - I think internet petitions in general are stupid. Whether they are started to shut down Rotten Tomatoes or to get Zack Snyder fired, anyone who starts them for such reasons is an idiot.
SisterSunday52
SisterSunday52 - 8/3/2016, 9:35 PM
@Darkknight2149 - I don't think so either. It should be managed better. Anything below an OK rating should be considered Rotten would be a good way to fix the issues as suggesting an OK movie is the same as a bad movie isn't really accurate. But shutting it down, and petitioning to shut it down does nothing as critics will still give their reviews regardless.
