Jared Leto Won't Commit To Returning As The Joker In The DC Extended Universe

Despite rumours of a movie pitting The Joker against Harley Quinn (isn't that supposed to be Gotham City Sirens?), Jared Leto simply won't reveal whether or not he'll return as the Clown Prince of Crime...

Due to extensive reshoots, Jared Leto's Suicide Squad role was vastly changed from what was originally intended. The movie wrapped up with the Clown Prince of Crime breaking Harley Quinn out of prison and it now remains to be seen whether or not Jared Leto will reprise the role in Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, or even that rumoured movie which will pit The Joker against Harley Quinn.

Entertainment Tonight Canada recently caught up with the Blade Runner 2049 star to ask about his future as the iconic Batman villain and Leto provided a frustratingly vague answer. "Talking about Joker [returning in ‘Suicide Squad 2’] is like talking about Fight Club… it’s the first rule. Unless you want to gargle your testicles, it’s probably better to leave it." So, yeah, that's a suitably weird response then!

Matt Reeves may even want Leto for The Batman; we just don't know right now! Still, the actor made no secret of the fact he was unhappy with so much of his performance being cut from Suicide Squad so when he does return to the role (and it sounds like he hasn't totally discounted that) he'll probably want a significant enough role to ensure that doesn't happen. What do you guys think of this news?

They should get Danny's CEO buddy/villain from Iron fist or the guy from Legion to play the Joker. Seriously, either would be amazing.

This must be a new phase for Josh.
I don't know when it started, probably around Homecoming, with RDJ in the thumbnail and all, but it's gotta stop.

First Affleck, now Leto. The DCEU is definitely being rebooted softly. Things are getting interesting. If Leto doesn't return that's a shame. He's one of the best actors of all time and could be a great Joker if they give him a quality script to work with. I wonder who'll be cast as Joker if he decides to quit.

@E4Nigma - flashpoint is coming in some shape or form. Hell it can happen in Justice League. All it would take is Flash to try to go back and save someone. Barry is all about messing with time. Then when he comes back the team is the soft rebooted cast. Easy fix that can be dome I'm 20 minutes.

@RancidBane -

Flashpoint would be the best way to reboot everything. It also would make a great movie.

@E4Nigma - heck yeah it would. That would give WB the ability to keep things that worked like Gadot and Cavil and get rid of Ben if he is unhappy there. I love him as Batman, but if the man is unhappy just cut him loose. No one will do great work if they are miserable the entire time.
