We recently found out that director James Gunn was developing a The Suicide Squad spinoff series for HBO Max that'll focus on John Cena's Peacemaker, and the show has now added another key supporting player.
Deadline reports that Grammy and three-time SAG ensemble winner Danielle Brooks has signed on to star alongside Cena and Steve Agee, who will reprise his The Suicide Squad role as John Economos.
Brooks, who is best known for playing Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, will play Leota Adebayo, who, as far as we know, is not an established DC Comics character. The trade doesn't provide any details on how Adebayo will factor into the plot.
We still don't know a whole lot about this series, but a brief synopsis reveals that it will "explore the origins of Cena’s Peacemaker character, a man who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill to get it."
Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Peacemaker and is expected to helm several instalments. He’ll also serve as EP along with Cena and The Suicide Squad producer Peter Safran.

Patrick will play Auggie Smith, Conrad will portray The Vigilante/Adrian Chase, while Holland will reprise her Suicide Squad character from the upcoming movie, NSA agent Emilia Harcourt who works with A.R.G.U.S. to monitor The Suicide Squad.
