It's fair to say that Jared Leto's interpretation of The Clown Prince of Crime hasn't been loved by all, but a lot of people do enjoy his portrayal (myself included) and would love to see him again. The poor reception of both his role as The Joker and Suicide Squad in general make it difficult for Joker to turn up anytime soon, but there are a few possibilities to where his character will end up. The Joker is, to put it lightly, a pretty major player in the DC Universe. That said, here are all the possible outcomes for Jared Leto's Joker.
Suicide Squad 2: With Joker being shoved aside for Enchantress as the main threat it would make sense for Joker to finally take the lime light against the squad. Although David Ayer isn't directing this one he did express that he wishes he made Joker the main villain, so maybe he gives notes to the film's future director. While that seems like the way to go, Warner Bros. and the crew may want to exclude Joker from this film franchise altogether.
Gotham City Sirens: This one seems the most likely due to continuity. We end Suicide Squad with Joker breaking Harley out of Belle Reve, this showing us that Joker and Harley are a pair again. Gotham City Sirens could open with Joker finally getting abusive and Harley gets away from him and meets Ivy. Somewhere down the road they meet Catwoman and we have our movie. If Ayer's tweet is to be believed, Black Mask might be the main villain, pushing Joker to the side once more. However, Ayer has expressed that he wants to make Joker the main villain, pushing Black Mask to the side. Either way, Joker has the biggest chance at turning up here.
The Batman: While this movie is having a hard time getting off the ground, Matt Reeves' introduction as director to the film is what gave life to the project. It seems pretty unlikely to exclude Batman's greatest enemy from his first solo outing in the DCEU. This film could also offer up more hints and possibly flashbacks to that Robin murder mystery. At this point, nothing can be predicted for this movie.
Nightwing: Probably the most unlikely of the bunch, although still possible. Joker has little to no personal affiliation with Dick Grayson, thus making his appearance in this film unlikely. Nightwing could have beef with Joker for killing off a fellow Robin, but probably not the case.
Batgirl: Any comic book fan envisions on comic/event when they hear Joker and Batgirl in the same sentence. Joker could definitely turn up here. Hell, the movie could end with THAT Killing Joke moment.
Jared Leto has stayed on top of teasing fans with various Snapchat and Instagram posts with teeth, Joker posters, and fan art. The actor hasn't expressed interest in leaving the role and seems to be very much on board and embracing his future as one of the best comic book villains of all time.
