BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Star Mark Hamill Shares His Thought's On Jared Leto's Joker

Considered the greatest Joker of all-time by many comic book fans, Star Wars Episode VIII actor Mark Hamill has weighed in on Jared Leto's take on the Clown Prince of Crime in Suicide Squad.

Jared Leto's take on The Joker has divided fans, though with much of his performance left on the cutting room floor, whether or not we can fairly judge the Oscar winning actor's take on the iconic villain in Suicide Squad is hard to say. However, Mark Hamill, who has played the Clown Prince of Crime longer than anyone else, has now shared his thoughts on Leto's performance. So, what's his verdict?

During an interview with Polygon, Hamill reportedly told the site that he loved his take on The Joker, but did add that he's yet to see a version that's made him say, "That was terrible." Hamill instead explained that he looks at each iteration for what that version needs to be at the time we meet them.

"Everyone brings a different spin to the character and you have to look at each script separately," Hamill said. "I don’t think there’s a definitive version of the Joker and I don’t think there can be. It’s like Hamlet, really. It’ll be constantly redefined. So, a fairly diplomatic answer, but it seems like he was a fan. Whether or not we'll get to see more of Leto as The Joker is unclear after the mixed response to Suicide Squad, but he definitely deserves another chance. Perhaps that will come in The Batman?

I saw the clips that they've released of him for the extended edition and I just don't like Jared Leto's Joker. It's a lame interpretation of the character.

To be honest, I'm still 50/50 on his Joker. Some scenes worked, others didn't. At this point, I'm sure it's just writing that'll make or break Leto in these movies.

But if they decide to recast...

Or...

@FilmGuyNietzche - Pretty good choices. My #1 choice is Ben Foster. Watched Hostage recently and Hell or High Water, he would make a perfect Joker.

@Menks123 - That's an interesting one, too.

If they aged Joker as they did Batman, I've always said Sam Rockwell should play him.

@FilmGuyNietzche - Love Sam Rockwell, i'd be 100% down with that.

@Menks123 - How about Eddie Redmayne as another alternative?

@FilmGuyNietzche - He's a good actor, but I haven't seen him in THAT much to say definitive. I've only seen him in Theory of Everything, which he was phenomenal and Jupiter Ascending.....which was, one of those pay check movies lol.

I wouldn't doubt him at all in the role though, seems to be more than capable. I honestly just can't put anyone over my Ben Foster pick, the dude can be crazy scary and funny doing so. Just watch Hell or High Water when you get the chance(if you haven't) and you'll see what I mean.

@Menks123 - Hell or High Water was damn near perfect.

How about Charlie Day?

@FilmGuyNietzche - I think he would be more of a Riddler than Joker. Unless they went down the campy/silly Batman route. The guy is neurotic and hilarious, but can he go the crazy, obsessive, scary mode that Joker should go is the question.
