El Diablo may have valiantly sacrificed himself to save the rest of Task Force X towards the end of Suicide Squad, but it looks like the character will be resurrected in some capacity for the upcoming sequel.

Joel Kinnaman shared the below image of himself, Jai Courtney (Boomerang) and Jay Hernandez (Diablo) to his Instagram page, and although he doesn't mention Suicide Squad 2 specifically, it's assumed that's the project the boys are in training for.

I'm usually not for resurrecting a dead character because it undercuts the emotional impact of the sacrifice, but he was one of the best parts of the movie so I'm okay with it.

@ForDarkseid - Wow. Looking at his filmography..wtf is WB thinking ? This guy isnt an upgrade to Ayer. A downgrade if anything.

@Typhoon20 - Well, hopefully the director/writer will have a script most will like. It happens. Not all writers consistently write films that everyone loves or hates. The reaction of their output can vary.

So, maybe he will have a story that more people will like than his previous stories. And maybe WB will stay the F out of the way and allow the story to happen instead of what they did last time.

I felt bad for the director having to come up with so much in so little time and try to please the producers, also. And, of course, he took the blame for some decisions that he probably didn't really make, which is normal in Hollywood. Not many directors/writers will come out and admit, "That wasn't MY idea". Producers, like many higher-ups at many companies, tell their lower managers/directors to take the blame if they want to keep working in that company/field. I've been through this several times when I was in management.

I love how Tim Burton, when questioned about that "Batman" scene where Alfred bring Vicky up to the Batcave without warning Bruce, and then this awkward scene (which I would think realistically would have had much MORE dialogue to follow) just sort of went, "So, are we going to try to love each other"?, Tim says in an interview that it wasn't his idea, but someone else who was above him (he might have specified Producer or a name; but I can't remember now). Tim doesn't take the blame for other's bad decisions. I like that. I'm glad he can still get work.

Anyway, enough rambling on my part.

@Typhoon20 - Warrior was a great film and it was missed by many. You should check it out.

But yes, other than that, O'Connor hasn't done much worth mentioning. I guess you could say Miracle, but it was based on a historical event.

Hopefully WB will give him more than the ~6 weeks they gave Ayer to write the script.

I'm extremely interested in what this becomes. I've liked Gavin O’Connor send the cast is really great. This has the potential to be really great.

One of the worst lines from SS (and that says a lot) was from El Diablo.

"I already lost a family, I ain't losing another one"

He knew the squad for a good 30 minutes, and decided these bums were his family? Mmmkay.
