THE SUICIDE SQUAD's Post-Credits Scenes Explained - SPOILERS

The Suicide Squad has two post-credits scenes, but what happens in them and do they set anything major up for the DC Extended Universe beyond this reboot? We've broken both down for you - spoilers follow!

The Suicide Squad arrives in theaters and on HBO Max just a few hours from now and is already playing overseas, so we're taking a closer look at the film's post-credits scenes. Yes, there are two of them you'll have to wait for, though if you are watching from home, then fast-forwarding through the credits will be an option (we would, however, recommend the big screen for this one).

The first scene is there just for fun, while the second has major consequences for the DCEU.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW!

THE POST-CREDITS SCENES

At the beginning of the film, Task Force X is taken out in bloody fashion with the team coming to the realization that Weasel can't swim when it's far too late. The creepy critter appears to drown and is dragged from the ocean by Savant and promptly pronounced dead. In this scene, however, he wakes up, coughs out some water, and then runs into the jungle to enjoy his newfound freedom.

In the second stinger, we find ourselves in a hospital with A.R.G.U.S. agents John Economos (Steve Agee) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland). Earlier in the film, John Cena's Peacemaker is gunned down by Bloodsport after killing Rick Flagg and attempting to take out Ratcatcher 2 (all in the name of freedom at the behest of Amanda Waller).

It turns out Peacemaker survived and was dug out of the rubble because they need him for something. Why? "To save the f***ing world."

WHAT THEY MEAN

The first doesn't really mean anything. Yes, we could see more of Weasel should Gunn decide to return to the DC Extended Universe for a sequel to The Suicide Squad, but the scene is just for laughs.

The second, however, sets the stage for HBO Max's eight-part Peacemaker series. We now know it's a sequel rather than a prequel, and exploring the fallout of the villain's time with Task Force X promises to be a lot more interesting than first expected. Cena's performance is an extremely layered one, and while he's deranged, Peacemaker certainly isn't all bad.

We also have a feeling his guilt after killing a legit hero like Flag is going to factor in to his arc, especially as his counterpart in the comic books is haunted by those he's murdered in the name of peace.

NGL, I didn't read this one or the other one about the deaths but seriously, you couldn't wait a day until everyone's had a chance to see this? I get if you chose to spoil it by reading, that's on the reader, but you can have a better discussion if everyone's been to the party instead of hearing about it from others.

would be cool to see the squad go up against another group of characters in a sequel, like

Suicide Squad VS The Elite
Suicide Squad VS The Authority
Suicide Squad VS Secret Six

It’s way too soon to be doing an article about post-credits scenes. The movie isn’t even out on HBO Max yet.

Just got back from the theater. Movie was awesome. I had a really good time watching it in the theater tbh. People clapped and laughed a lot. Very good movie. Loved King Shark and the whole squad.

Even tho i just saw it, i hate when Josh puts articles like this before the movie even comes out it’s just not the right thing to do. Should wait until Friday night or Saturday at least.
