Christopher Nolan Talks New Superman, Keeps Mum On Justice League!

The Dark Knight director confirms that he is indeed producing The Man Of Steel, and refuses to comment on..but doesn't deny a potential cross-over for Supes and Bats, a-la Justice League...

MTV asked Nolan about his "sheparding" of the new Superman movie, and about any cross-over type films in the future..

"We're producing the [Superman] film and David Goyer had a terrific take on the story," Nolan told MTV News during this week's ShoWest convention. "I've been working on the story with David, and he's going to go off and write it, and we'll see where it goes."

When asked about Justice League..

"I can't really talk about other things," smiled Nolan

Can't talk about it..I like Can't talk about it, its a damn site better than Nolan's previous notion of keeping his Batman separate from the rest of the DC Universe. Anyway, he may very well be spinning us along of course, but we can hope! I think everyone was pretty surprised when Nolan was announced as having any involvement at all with a new Superman film after his apparent dismissal of acknowledging other Super Heroes outside of his Gotham City. I think between this and DC Entertainment's announcement of a new CBM every year it won't be long until we see a Justice League movie..just get busy with Flash and Wonder Woman guys!

I don't mind the notion of him keeping his Batman in his own universe, but what pissed me off was his comment about Superman in the same situation.

Now it seems like things are turning around, which I'm happy about.

Great find ROR!

It'll be a real pity if they dont take this oppurtunity to build a movie universe as Marvel have! Still a Superman/Batman movie would be great.

Guys, check out my OLD MAN LOGAN Fan Cast!!! Just click the link!!!

These movies must be on separate universes. Batman, Superman, Flash,Green Lantern and Wonder Woman must not cross. Each, will film separatly without chains that will compromise their stories. For a future Justice League Movie, Studio and Producers could sign in the same Cast using Infinite Crisis theme plot. In wich each superhero lives in a diferent universes but must join forces to fight a Universal Extintcion

They should just do it how marvel is doing it, plain and simple.

Ahhhh...WB/DC is turning the proverbial screws on our illustrious Mr. Nolan. He wouldn't touch Supes, now he is. Are they merely throwing money at him, or is he actually being convinced on how cool of an idea it is?
TNTjesus
TNTjesus - 3/19/2010, 6:32 PM
Whatever. As long as he doesn't try to keep Supes boxed-in in a world without other heroes. Batman has got enough villains to keep his world exciting. But its the freakin Man of Steel! Like he wouldn't know about the other heroes of the world.

@McLovin...I got a McLovin on my friends on PS3! Its not u is it?

"Like he wouldn't know about the other heroes of the world."

That's assuming there are other heroes in the world they set up.

I think in Nolan-verse, Batman should be the first official superhero and then Superman comes along.

It would be like some of the themes Watchmen touched on with Dr. Manhattan.

I think the best way to do a justice League film is to do it in the style of Crisis on Infinite Worlds.

Were the universe of a Batman, a Superman, a Wonder Woman etc who are all unfamiliar with each other collide. That way you don't have to worry about creating a Batman where he exists as the worlds only superhero because at that point, he is.

Honestly I'd prefer something more honest to the comics, but this idea allows more freedom for the independent Superhero movies.

You have to have a film where Superman meets Batman before any Justice League film is made. The dynamic between the two is probably the best in the genre. In the film I'd like to see Superman place the call for others like himself to band togehter. Batman being the suspicious person he is meets with Superman before anyone else can. Differences get settled or maybe they don't either way there's your Superman vs Batman flick to kick off the Justice League flick.

Superman-Ryan Mcpartlin or Harmon Walsh
Batman-Christian Bale or Henry Cavill

This represents some significant progress. He hasn't stated an interested in doing any crossoversin the past. Of course, this is the guy that had to be cajoled into doing The Dark Night. By whom? His brother Jonah. Probably tackled him in the middle of the living room floor and hit him repeatedly over the forehead with a rolled-up newspaper until he caved in. This time Jonaah should try tieing him up with duct tape and throwing him in the closet until he agrees to do Justice League..

@brianj22 I do agree with you, seeing something like that would be beyond epic. Unfortunatley, I think that will never happen, not because it can't but because the powers that be will NEVER let it happen. But YES, it would break records.

He just accidentally hinted to us that something is up their sleeve over there in DC/Warners/Nolan world. You know it when they ask him and he smiles when he responds cause he KNOWS but can't say and the reporter asked the right question. Kudos to them for making him do that questionable smile. If you're good at reading people, it was pretty obvious he knows something that we don't (or do we?) lol :P

I have a feeling the movie is going to be a lot of self exploration (for Superman, and not in a perverted sense either guys lol).

...and Lee picks two "not-so-masculine sort of fellas" to play the role of Superman and Batman? Lee, c'mon... you can do better than that! Talk about self-exploration.

AVENGERS VS JLA

will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever happen (in live action format. Might happen in cartoon, although I doubt even that)

If you want to know why it won't happen you just have to look around you. Look at the failed Justice League feature length, look at the Planet Hulk cartoon where they couldn't have Silver Surfer, look at Captain America: The First Avenger where it can't have The Human Torch. Legal issues take precedent over potential box office taking.

Stop with the Henry Cavill nonsense. He's not tall enough. Superman is supposed to tower over other guys at 6'4". At 6'1" you'll see the difference. It showed with Dean Cain.

I'm sure they'll find someone suitable.
