General Zod to Take on Superman in the Reboot?

God that movie will be awesome, Part of me don´t want Snyder on the direction, but this Zod rumor makes me happy :)

Talontd made a good point in the other article. If they are legally prohibited from mentioning Clark's origin or Krypton, how would they use Zod?

have Brainiac release ZOD.... that would be sweet. of course if they are going to use any continuity to the donner films then we remember that Zod is still in the Fortress of Solitude......Perhaps Brainiac would find a way to pull him out of the abyss!!!!

I like Zod, he's both an intellectual as well as a physical threat. A great combo. I'd love to see Superman and a foe just beat the sh!t out of each other for the last third of the film. That's what I liked so much about The Incredible Hulk. Two power houses bringing the house down!

to be fair tho, the first two superman movies were the last good superman movies, and that was 30 yrs ago...


seriously tho, how much of a fight are we ever gonna get with superman- the most kid friendly, PC comic hero out there??

I can wait for an all out action packed superman and zod is the best to go then moved into the others baddies for another movie .Great pick

this is what I want! I hope it is not a rumour, I hope they do a movie about Krypton and Superman's origins without you know having a whole origin story about Superman again.

If there is going to be a so-called connection to Donner's Superman, it should just be a remake of the scene at the beginning of Superman 1 with Zod locked in the Phantom Zone and Kal-El sent to Earth. However, instead of the opening credits looking at Kal-El's journey to Earth, it should go through the years that led up to Clark putting on the suit and becoming Superman. The movie continues a few years into Superman's career. Zod has escaped from inside the Phantom Zone and vows revenge on Superman and we see flashbacks to the last week in Krypton's existence looking at Zod's motivation for hating Superman and his father. The rest of the movie looks at Zod's wish to get revenge on Superman while trying to remake Earth and its sun so it can become New Krypton. But this will destroy humanity so Superman fights back in many titanic battles.

Something Zod did leads to Brainiac's creation so he is the villain in the sequel. Meanwhile Luthor is like Moriarity in the new Sherlock Holmes movie, he plays the villain in the shadows who is slowly building his power to fight Superman who he treats like an alien invader leading to either Bizarro's or Metallo's creation in the third movie, therefore providing a villain for Superman to fight and Lex Luthor gets to be a major villain again

oh and total reboot, no sequel to any other superman movie no matter what!

I agree with you a lot. Couldn't have said it better.

They should present something new and even more powerful villain. The likes of Darkseid, Doomsday or if done right Parasite. It might even even be more interesting to see Superman go against Titano or Godzilla.

I think its the main reason why Brian Singer failed in the first placed. Sure fans loved Superman I & II and fans have been watching Zod through re-runs, VCD, DVDs, VHS of Superman I and II for ages. And I'm sure fans are anticipating something new.

If they really want real reboot then they should present an entirely new main villain. Not Zod, Not Luthor (actually I consider him more as part of the regular cast already), not even Bizarro (Superman III and IV somehow indirectly used him --bad Superman and Nuclear Man respectively).

finally a good supervillian for the movie but i still hope to see a luthor as good as michael rosembaum, and do you think darkseid would be better for superman II or a justice league movie?
