People who dislike superman for being 'boring' or say he's 'too powerful so he's not interesting' are the people who are too ignorant to pick up a good superman comic book or graphic novel themselves.

Jesus. They talking about superheros. And the need for heros to fight against evil. Then they have the 911 clips and actually show Bush talking about terroists. Hmm

Shit is funny.

Nolan and The Dark Knight Rises. Dude I'm so damn impressed with that movie on so many levels. Outstanding. Absolutley brilliant.

The Dark Knight Rises kinda sucked as much as I hate to admit it. Bane was done really well in it, but kind of got brushed aside towards the end...and not to mention the pot holes big enough to fit a nuclear explosion in. *sigh*

We've had superheroes going all the way back to Greek and Christian mythology. Hercules, Samson, Jesus, Zeus, God. All great superheroes and those were like the original Marvel and DC Comics. Too bad some nuts started worshipping the Bible superheroes so seriously.

Those stories could be fun if wackos out there didnt think they were real.

Good info on superheros and why we need them

You can't say Hercules was the first "modern" superhero, because Hercules is "classic" NO "modern", Greek classic culture. We a re not even "modern" anymore, we are postmodern or global now, Man of Steel is a global approach to the hero.
But you're right, Superman is revisioned version of the classic myths, the hero, the Osiris solar deity archetype.

@CharlesBryant97 I couldn't agree more , there are also a lot of batman fans who are only fans because he's a badass and revenge is a intriguing theme in a story. But they miss the overall point of what a superhero stands for and superman is the shining example of that ideal. @Batmaniac I've always wondered how and why Batman got on that awkward platform on the top of the skyscraper? For superman and ironman ect it's easy but he's got to grapple hook or jump out of the batwing or something...

The other point to Superman and other heroes is that no matter how powerful you are, that power should be used to help and benefit mankind. MOS besides looking like a great action packed Superman film, will also have a message.

Superheroes aren't real? WTF?!
KalKent853
KalKent853 - 6/7/2013, 1:04 PM
@Batmaniac hmmm hadn't thought about it that way, thanks

@fettastic True, but I was thinking more of what the common non-comic book reader thinks batman is, again it comes down to a misunderstanding of the character. Also I've seen batman interrogate gang members for his own investigations, isn't that a form of vigilantism? Just wondering

KalKent853
KalKent853 - 6/7/2013, 1:07 PM
@fettastic There's some debate on whether he kills the Joker is the dark knight returns though. Some say the Joker snapped his own neck but it can be seen both ways, maybe Batman knew he would do it and that's why he didn't let go. That could be seen as indirectly murdering someone, same with Raz-al ghul in batman begins, does not saving someone when you can constitute as indirect murder?

I cannot imagine seeing Supes and Bats on the same screen. Imagine their capes just fluttering in the wind as they are getting ready to battle!

Dang I cannot wait for some announcements at SDCC.

Henry Cavill is currently at Mexico City... I was at three meters from him during the Photo Call & Press conference. Cool guy but he refused or was compelled by security members to sign autographs. :(
