Fans have been hoping for some kind of official Man of Steel 2 announcement from Warner Bros. for quite some time now. Unfortunately, we haven't had any updates in a while, and the chances of it ever happening are looking slim.

The studio simply appears to have prioritized other characters, and it may be some time before they return to the iconic DC hero. That being said, it seems Henry Cavill would still be open to reprising the role of the Last Son of Krypton, if given the chance. 

Roger Roecken tweeted out that he met Cavill at San Diego Comic-Con, and here's what the actor had to say when asked about a potential return as Superman.


Nice to see he is still open to donning the cape again, but at the end of the day, the decision is out of his hands.

I mean, of course he's still interested. and gotta give it to him, WB made the guy dirty 3 times (4 if you count his character's cameo in Shazam) and he's still interested in working with them, that is some resolve.

Great. Now if Warner Bros can just pull their collective heads out of their asses and stop pushing trash movies through so a few execs can collect their "made release date" bonus. Hire Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, get a competent director on-board, and roll cameras.

@MuadDib - HBO's still going strong. Their biggest mistake was giving full creative control to D&D, but they also released the two best seasons of TV this year with Barry & Chernobyl.
WB Pictures has always been hit or miss. Hope they still take big chances like Blade Runner 2049 and Dune though, and there's more Mad Max films coming too now that the law suit's been resolved according to Miller.

@tmp3 - AT&T just recently bought them; the changes haven't trickled down yet. GoT, Chernobyl, and Barry are from the old regime. AT&T wants HBO to change their amount of shows and attention to quality. For years HBO has worked on the mentality of less quantity of shows but higher quality.

Not ever HBO show to everyone's taste, and they would let the D&Ds do whatever they wanted, but there is a clear difference between that and the Netflix model AT&T is adamant HBO joins: commission literally everything and hope that 1 amazing, biggest hit ever show comes out of the 20 shit ones you asked for at the same time.

@DalekCraigWasson - Exactly what I was referring to. In a few years HBO will be almost unrecognizable. AT&T is going to have HBO not only increase the # of shows they make, increasing their loss rate, but are going to dilute the brand with HBOMax.

And it sounds like Swamp Thing go cancelled bc it was too horror orientated, and they wanted more of a CW feel. Terrible management decisions.

Even putting the GoT stuff aside, HBO had had a great year. Chernobyl had enormous cultural impact, you couldn't get away from it online, and Barry had fantastic reception as well. Big Little Lies had more criticism but was still popular. Not to mention Euphoria, Years and Years, and the upcoming Watchmen show from the Leftovers team and His Dark Materials (with anti-Church stuff included unlike the film), and this might be the last year we get an HBO that is swinging for the fences on every show they make.
