Man Of Steel will be shooting in Illinois in late August and according to The Times they have filed permits to use a section of highway in northern La Salle County. Josh Kauffman of the Illinois Department of transportation says he is not sure what they are filming, but did say they will use Highway US 34 north of Mendota.

Reports The Times:

Warner Bros. production officials have filed applications for special use road permits with the Illinois Department of Transportationin order to film segments of "Superman: Man of Steel" in Northern La Salle County, according to an IDOT spokesman. Producers have requested to use a portion of U.S. 34 north of Mendota for filming later this summer or early fall.

As stated earlier there has been no mention on what they are filming, or exactly how long they will be shooting at the location. There is also no mention on what actors, if any, will be at the shoot.

Man of Steel starts filming in August and will be released in late 2012.

Yeah okay this is at least kind of interesting news ya know, but I really want to see some actual character photos and what not, preferably sooner rather than later. No pressure Snyder/Nolan LOL. P :)

I wish they would just title the movie " the man of steel". There are already 6 superman movies with the title of superman in it.

I have a source inside the movie production who states that the stretch of road will be used in the following way: Superman realizes he is invincible and at the same time gets really hungry. Then he eats an entire section of highway and craps it out... Supercrap.

@LP4, They haven't even started filming yet, and don't forget the continous stream of casting reports. I'm reminded of a user's old comment on this site talking about how spoiled we are when it comes to news. Just be patient.

@MegaMattMOS- True. I'm just wondering...see i checked IMDB and on there the completed casts of TDKR and Spidey and Avengers for 2012 have about 15 main cast members for each film.

But for MOS we are only about 10 main cast members in. Does that mean we could possibly get 5 more casting announcements? Especially with filming to start in August...right around the corner...i just don't know...

@ClarkKent1985- I think Crowe was already confirmed for the role so it's not really "rumor" anymore.

But he's a great actor and every film he's in is great. So I'm pretty excited to see what he brings to the role of Jor-El.

They're getting to be too bland! Give us the suit and Clark Kent!

@LP4, Maybe. I hope Perry and Jimmy are cast, though. To me they are even more crucial than Luthor.
