Man of Tomorrow is shaping up to be a fairly jam-packed movie, with several other superheroes now confirmed to be joining the Man of Steel on his next big-screen adventure.
Though most are characters that were introduced in Superman (Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, etc.), James Gunn's DCU sequel will also feature the return of Blue Beetle (Xolo Maridueña) and the big-screen debut of Lanterns' John Stewart (Aaron Pierre).
And, of course, there is a lot of speculation that Adria Arjona has been cast as Wonder Woman, not the villainous Maxima as the trades initially reported.
More recently, rumors (though the source was sketchy as hell) circulated that MOT may even feature the DCU debuts of Batman and The Flash, and Daniel Richtman reported the following back in May.
"In a casting grid...it said they were casting Martian Manhunter, so I believe the recent casting was for that. That being said, [James] Gunn likes to call characters by other names on his grids, so we'll see."
In a new interview, Sinqua Walls (Carry-On) was asked about his mysterious role and gave a very interesting response.
"Within minutes of the announcement, the way my social media went crazy with people messaging me... with not-inaccurate guesses on who they thought I was playing."
So, it definitely sounds like someone has guessed which character Walls is playing. This doesn't mean it's definitely J'onn J'onzz, of course, but that is the character most people jumped to when his casting was announced. At the very least, it's probably safe to assume that he is playing an established DC Comics hero or villain.
What do you think? If not Martian Manhunter, who else might Walls be playing in Gunn's upcoming (no a) Superman sequel? Drop us a comment down below.
MOT will focus on the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) putting their differences aside and joining forces to defend the planet against Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), and Maria Gabriella de Faria (The Engineer) have all been confirmed to return.
Arjona confirmed that she filmed her scenes when the movie was "wrapping up" during a recent interview, which may support the rumor that her character - be it Wonder Woman or Maxima - will only have a minor role to set up her next DCU appearance.
Man of Tomorrow will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
