Talking with Digital Spy Michael Shannon has shared more information on Superman: The Man of Steel than he has done to date. Maybe that's because he doesn't have a limelight hogging Irish comedian sitting next to him? Anyway...

In this interview he talks about the fight scene between General Zod and Jor-El that Russell Crowe tweeted about a few weeks ago and he also talks about the one scene he has filmed so far with Henry Cavill.

"We do have a fight sequence in the film. We worked on it for a long time, we rehearsed it for a long time, then you shoot it and it's done. It's kind of strange to put all this work into something that's going to be maybe a minute long [on film]."

"I've shot exactly one scene with Henry so far. We have a lot together, we just haven't shot it yet,"

"He seems very appropriate for the part, he's a big fella and he's very handsome and charming, so it's certainly understandable why they cast him. But I'll always have a soft spot for Christopher Reeve."

What do you think? It sounds like the scene is going to be very brief as he states that they had spent so long working on it for it to only be 'about a minute long' in the final movie.

From what I can gather from the photos we have seen leaked from set and what we hear from the actors when they do talk about it this film is shaping up to be great!

Love Shannon. This movie is gonna be great! Cavill will be a new and defining superman but Reeve is the greatest.

Heh, he said what I've been thinking, what I'm sure many of us have: Though I look forward to Cavill, he looks abosolutely amazing and I think he's going to knock it out of the park, if he does, he'll be the actor that played a great Superman...But Reeve will always BE Superman, y'know?

It was funny seeing him as a druggie white supremacist redneck in Bad Boys II. I hadn't really noticed it was him until a few days ago.

This guy is going to be fantastic as Zod as will Cavill as Superman. This movie is sha[ing up very nicely. I can safely say that I am very looking forward to this.

@ohgawduhh: holy shit... ha ha! [frick]... you'r right. every time i tell someone who zod is, they're like "who the [frick] is shannon" or "what is he in..." so far... i've drawn a blank every time. so far all i have dropped is boardwalk empire... which no one seems to watch other than me... he's a familiar face, but not a familiar name. kinda like oliver platt was until lake pleasant... weird! i dig it!

Don't get me wrong, Reeve will always be great as good ol' Supes, and I thought Routh was actually terrific, but I'm putting my utmost faith in Cavill. Before, I was concerned because I thought they wouldn't do the character justice, but how can you possibly go wrong with such a great cast and an awesome director? I haave officially jumped on the bandwagon of the idea that since this is a new generation of moviegoers, a new kind of Superman is necessary. Just as long as they stay true to his original roots, I will be fine. I'm really hoping that Cavill can impress me with all of his charisma when "Immortals" comes out next month. Snyder already proved himself to me with "Sucker Punch", which was fantastic, but now it's Cavill's turn.
