The Oscar nominated actor talked to I Am Rogue recently about his new movie The Iceman during the interview it was pretty obvious that Zod would get a mention. Michael Shannon calls Zod a "patriot". Watch the interview to see what else Shannon had to say about Superman's foe, General Zod.

Next summer, "Man of Steel" is coming to the big screen. The film is from director Zack Snyder and producers Charles Roven, Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Comics.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Starring Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Costner and Ayelet Zorer, Man of Steel is set to hit theatres on June 14th.

patriot, he said ? so basically Zod is fighting to keep the planet safe from destruction, just like Jor-El. Or maybe Jor-El knows the planet is beyond saving and wants to leave ? That could cause a conflict between those two ...

What's Clark role in this ?

Anyway, i think (but i might be wrong) that it is Brainiac who will be responsible for destroying Krypton.

@TheYoungMan

you don't have to spoil it here. Leave it to more appropriate thread :)

there are those who are trying to avoid this kind of information.
Imagine they go to MoS news thread, and see something like that.

Just saying

i noticed my mistake, yeah. My bad. But that doesn't mean we should talk about it in every thread that is somehow NOT related to the movie. All i'm saying - leave it to the thread that is more appropriate. Besides, i don't believe that after the comment like yours some people need to connect dots anymore. You basically give it all away. People are not that stupid.

@spidatrav

nolan never had a villain in his movie??? So what was joker? ras and his league of shadows? bane? two face? scarecrow... which all did something bad that made a situation worst or tried to kill the people of gotham or just terrorize it for fun.. if those are not villains then i do not know what villains are to you..
and if you seen the mod trailers its more than just being an alien invasion movie and about zod getting revenge on kal-e. its much more than that... unlike avengers which is was just an alien movie just so the team can have a reason to team up wow.

@ SpiderTrav - If the Joker, Scarecrow, Bane and Talia weren't villains, what were they? I can understand if you say Two-Face and Ra's, but none were villains?

@ MrSpock - Actually, Nolan played a hand in the story, he helped make sure the script was good to go, but it is Goyer's script. Nolan's just an editor.
