Superman

Speaking to MTV at the Independent Spirit Awards,Michael Shannon starts off the brief interview very jokingly but get's much more serious at the end. While it's questionable whether or not what Shannon utters is an actual phrase from the movie you can tell by the transformation of his features that he definitely put on the Zod persona for a few seconds. Check it out.

Man of Steel is an upcoming superhero film under the development of Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Superman, the film will be a reboot of the Superman film series. Using Chicago and Vancouver as a backdrop, with production to be based in west suburban Plano, Illinois, the film entered principal photography in August 2011, for a planned theatrical release on June 14, 2013 by Warner Bros., which also includes IMAX venues

"Unable to offer this video to users in your region".

Someone can put it on Youtube or something like that?
Or at least transcribe what he said?

I just hate this MTV player.

Can't see it either. Is it just me or does Michael Shannon seem like a weak actor to be Zod. I just keep picturing him from Bad Boys 2 and being that "Southern hick".

@ksommer
You obviously haven't seen either Boardwalk Empire or his new film Take Shelter. He's far from being a weak actor...

@ksommer - watch a few episodes of boardwalk empire and that "southern hick" character will be gone from your memory. Shannon has a lot of range from his various roles.

In a different thought, I have never been 100% behind Amy Adams as Lois for this movie. Yes she has shown herself as a great actress I just can't picture her as the vision I have of the character. So until I see the film and her portrayal, I am not sure if I will be completely sold. With that said, I saw her on the red carpet for the Academy Awards last night and I have to say she looked pretty damn hot...

And all this time i thought the universe was constantly expanding. Glad Zod put the speculation to rest.

Noted! I didn't mean as a "weak actor" as far as acting chops. More so not threatening enough. If that makes sense. I'll have to check out Boardwalk Empire.

@Nemeres

"I saw the dance sequence, but that's it, just because I have to match the moves," Shannon joked — we hope. We could even see a silent, black-and-white, song-and-dance film à la "The Artist," the actor quipped: "We're actually taking a lot of stuff from 'The Artist' and incorporating it into 'The Man of Steel.' "

Getting a little more serious in his answers, Shannon admitted there will be some brains behind Zod's brawn. He shared that he got to perform some epic dialogue while filming the movie. "Zod has some speeches; he has some cool speeches," he said. "I got to say some cool stuff, but I can't say any of it right now."

After a long pause, Shannon shared what just might be an actual line from "Man of Steel": "Do you realize the universe is constantly shrinking, Superman?"

I came across the movie 13 some days before; I didn't see the movie from beginning to end, but I did see Shannon, and I can easily see him as Zod from that.

Oh, [frick] MTV, of course.

I think he's going to be a much more menacing General Zod.

I hope we get a "Kneel before Zod" from him.
