A new Superman movie...Is it on? Is it off? Will it be a prequel, a sequel or a revamp?
It seems that the theatrical fate of the Man of Steel is up in the air, for the time being. Director
James McTeigue (
V for Vendetta) is the man rumored to be on the short list for helming another film, but even he is not sure what's going on. On Friday, McTeigue told
MTV:
"[The Superman movie is] in a weird place at the moment. They're trying to work out what they're doing. Warner Brothers is trying to figure out their next move on it. There's some things you can do with the Superman franchise, there's other things you can't do. So it hasn't gone anywhere."
McTeigue is currently promoting his latest film,
Ninja Assassin, but added this about the
Superman franchise:
"I think it's ripe for a retooling. I would love to — if it happened, I would at least start a conversation about it.
