POLL: What Do You Think Of General Zod's New Look For Man Of Steel?

POLL: What Do You Think Of General Zod's New Look For Man Of Steel?

Yesterday Josh posted our first proper look at actor Michael Shannon in some black duds we assume will be (at least one of) the costumes he will wear as the villainous General Zod. But what did you make of this look?

General Zod has had a few different looks in both the comics and live action over the years. Some pretty flamboyant, some bad-ass, some a bit more basic. Zack Snyder would seem to be going with a more basic look as yesterday's pics of Michael Shannon on set in Chicago will attest to. But of course we also know that he has been wearing a mo-cap suit for some scenes so chances are there will also be a very different look for him too.

Obviously these pics don't give us the best look at Shannon that we could have but it's plain to see the costume is basically an all black version of Henry Cavill's Superman outfit. There are some subtle differences of course and we can't see the front but there does appear to be some sort of shield akin to Superman's "S". And what about Shannon himself? We can see a glimpse of some facial hair. Would you have preferred a fuller beard? Has he bulked up enough in your estimation? Just taking this first glimpse into account what's the verdict?

Here is a pretty good fan manip to give us an idea what we COULD be in store for..

Keeping it simple on the voting options, but let's hear your specifics in the comments section.

I have to say...I like the fact that for once the hero and villain are wearing the same type of suit. I also like the fact that this make it more likely that superman's suit is of some kryptonion origin which I think makes more sense then an earth made costume.

I have never seen Zod look like Superman before. Looks like they are doing a little Bizzaro homage there.

I kind of like it though. Come on 2013!

If it ends up looking like the fan manip (with a goatee) that'd rock. I think them playing Supes suit as a Kryptonian uniform of some sort would work pretty well.

ForceOfLegend - 9/15/2011, 11:57 AM
Agree with you Falo. I like the idea of Superman's suit coming from Krypton. Makes it more believable that the suit is nearly indestructible. I remember on Lois in Clark they said anything close enough to his skin would be indestructible.

Maybe this is what he looks like when he first appears on Earth, and he armors up later.

I love the fact that they have the same costume, or uniform. Maybe that's what the Kryptonians wore on their planet. Just guessing. :)

Whoever did the photo manip got lazy. As you can see in the spy photos, Shannon has a goatee. Not only that, but Kryptonian language isn't like English. Superman doesn't have the "S" because he's called Superman on Earth. That's the House of Jor-El insignia. Likewise, Zod doesn't have a letter, but a circle and an inverted "L" underneath it.

The freaky "Z" armor is only very recent.

I like it, and i hope he's not wearing a cape. though, i'd bet money that if the film did well, they'd just remake the [frick]ing thing again. it seems like dc doesn't know any better.

I can't vote in this poll. It's speculation.

Superman and Zod both are showing too much package. Whoever designed these costumes must be a woman, because this movie is gonna give fan service to the ladies. I don't want to see the bulge down there.

Should have let Nolan direct it. I'd love to see his take on a more realistic style of Superman.
