When I asked you guys which of the big 2012 releases would be the biggest hit at the box office, The Dark Knight Rises came out on top as the clear winner. When it comes to 2013 though, did the victor emerge with such a huge majority? Well, it wass between Iron Man 3 (helmed by Shane Black), Man of Steel (helmed by Zack Snyder) and THOR 2 (helmed by Patty Jenkins). Each of these directors are tackling a superhero movie for the first time apart from Snyder who dabbled in the genre with an adaptation of Watchmen back in 2009. So, which did you guys would end up making the most cash come 2013? The clear winner was Man of Steel. Was this because we've seen more of this movie than the other two or simply due to the fact that you're desperate to see Superman back on the big screen? Share your thoughts below.

Man of Steel won because we know absolutly NOTHING about Thor 2 and IM3

Doesn't matter how many Ironman and Thor movies are released,Superman will always beat them on brand recognition worldwide.He's the daddy of them all and Joe Public will always gravitate toward the devil they know best.

We've seen how Thor has been depicted, we've seen how Iron Man has been depicted. Superman is going to be portrayed differently than he has in the past and there's going to be A LOT more action than previous films combined more than likely. This is a reason why people are more excited to see this movie.

Man of Steel - Makes the most, hopefully the best movie.
Iron Man 3 - Will make more than Thor 2 but not be as good.
Thor 2 - Will be better than Iron Man 3 and be more popular than the first movie because of "The Avengers" movie, but fall just short of beating IM3.

@Intruder they forgot to add "in 2013" to that title. It bombed because people realized it was a boring, no action, chick flick. Word got out and no one wanted to see it.

I am a DC and Marvel fan, but let's be real. Box office doesn't translate to a movie being better. Please refer to Superman Returns. Decent box office at $391 million, but crappy movie. Still didn't do as well as Thor at $448 Million. People are hungry for a good Superman movie, thus it will probably draw more people to the theater than SR in hopes they will get that, but judging on IM2's box office at $624 million, IM3 should still draw more and Thor 2 may as well.

@Ranger14 yeah, it all depends on how Man of Steel looks, the amount of action and story, and also how well they market that movie. If there's a lot of action and they display in the promo's this is ain't your grandpa's or even girlfriend's (Superman Returns) Superman, then people will be really enticed to go see this new take on Superman that they haven't seen before.

All in all though, all of these movies will be huge successes at the Box Office.

JDUKE25@ Personally, I don't think action in a trailer is going to draw more people to the theater. If that were the case, movies like the Expendables and Immortals would be huge box office draws. I don't think mainstream public is going to flock to see Superman punching out bad guys. Fanboys may. I think Joe Public likes the whole Superman personification. I could be wrong on that one, but we all have our opinions. The action you may be referring to may not be the same "action" that many on this forum have referred to, so if I apologize if I misinterpret your use of the term "action".

@Intruder Probably true. Superman hasn't had a decent movie in 31 years. But hopefully this new one gets people really invested again. If Thor and Iron Man can become popular, surely Superman can make a comeback.

@Intruder no you didn't. I meant action as in Superman actually fighting and kicking some serious tale. People, fanboys and the general public, haven't seen something like that before. So seeing a superhero as well known as Superman actually doing these things, and with a new way of telling how he came to be, I think, will get people really interested and be like "FINALLY!!! A real superman film!". But this is just what I'm hoping because I'm tired of crappy superman movies.

IM made $582 million. IM2 earned more than$600(I still hate that movie)
IM3 is more likely to reign supreme at the B.O.

Now critically, it's a toss-up between Thor 2 and Man of Steel.
Thor was a great film, and Man of Steel's story was created by Nolan and Goyer
Let's hope Snyder doesn't mess it up

people say " no one cares about superman anymore" how wrong can you be, i mean that boggles my mind, back in 2006 little kids were talking about how superman sucked, but this is 6 years later, the GP loves superman just like they did, 40 years ago, like it or nor, superman will not fail at the box office, nobody said SR was bad when it came, because is superman, everybody loves him, it took multiple veiwings for people to go, "hey that was lame"

2nd thor 2
3rd man of steel

we know nothing about iron man 3 or thor 2 at the moment apart from who's directing them,man of steel is being filmed as we speak.

i want man of steel to be great looking forward to it more than the dark knight rises,but after superman 3,superman 4 & superman returns will the general movie going public want to see another superman movie.
