Summary

Johns gives us the origin story of Ulysses, has Supes embracing his role as a mentor, and introduces the Machinist.

What I Liked

✔Great character development with Ulysses/Neil

✔Cool to see Supes teamed up with someone that's close to being his "equal"

✔Good dialogue, especially between Ulysses and his parents

✔Pretty good action

What I Didn’t Like

✘Romita's facial expressions and hands looked very strange

✘Machinist seems a bit weak and one-dimensional, but it's too early to make final judgment on his character

✘Cliffhanger seemed inevitable and a bit predictable--this is something that most fans would probably see coming

Themes

  • The need for positive role models and mentorship

  • With great power, comes great responsibility

Score

8/10
