We're still no closer to finding out who will step into the Man of Steel's cape for James Gunn's Superman: Legacy, but we do have some intriguing new rumors to add to the list.
Previous reports have indicated that Gunn might be planning to introduce more than just the core Superman characters (Lex, Lois, etc) in order to lay the groundwork for future DCU projects, and we may now have some idea of which heroes and villains the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director has in mind.
According to Jeff Sneider on this week's episode of The Hot Mic, Warner Bros./DC Studios are currently casting for Mr. Terrific and a female character called "Blitz." We assume this is Jennifer Blitz, a powerful DC Comics Metahuman, but there are other possibilities.
Speculation is also mounting that Lobo might put in an appearance, mostly due to Gunn recently signing off his Tweet about only one actor being cast in the movie so far with a merman emoji! This might be a bit of a stretch, but Aquaman star Jason Momoa has been rumored to be taking on the role of the Main Man for a while.
As far as we know, David Corenswet (House of Cards, Peal) is the frontrunner for Supes, but Jacob Elordi (Euphoria), and Andrew Richardson (Extrapolations) are also said to be in the mix. Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Emma Mackey (Barbie), Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), and Samara Weaving (Scream VI) reportedly read for Lois Lane.
Nicholas Hoult (Renfield) is believed to be "the only person" who is being considered for Lex Luthor at the moment.
