While we anxiously await a first look at some footage from Superman, director James Gunn has shared an exciting update on the first trailer for his DCU reboot.

Though he didn't reveal when the teaser will be released, he has confirmed that it is now finished and "on my hard drive."

Not exactly an earth-shattering announcement, but it's nice to know that the trailer is completed and ready to be shown to the public... even if we're not sure exactly when that will be,

Warner Bros. Discovery, Games and Pictures will have a presence at this year's CCXP in São Paulo, which runs from the 5th to the 8th of December. There's speculation that we might see something from the movie during the event, but we have heard that the full trailer won't debut until Wednesday, December 25th during one of the scheduled NBA games.

Five games are set for Christmas Day, but - if the trailer is set to drop - it will most likely arrive during either the Lakers vs. Warriors at 8PM ET or the Nuggets vs. Suns at 10PM ET.

This as a rumor for the time being, as other sources seem confident that the trailer will hit during CCXP. We'll find out for sure around this time next month.

In related news, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story has won six awards in the six categories it was nominated in at the Critics' Choice Documentary Awards.

"The team behind SUPER/MAN is over the moon to have won 6/6 categories the film was nominated in, including Best Director for Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, Best Editing for Otto Burnham, Best Score for Ilan Eshkeri, Best Archival Documentary, and Best Biographical Documentary. And honored to tie Best Documentary Feature with WILL AND HARPER."

Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/The Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Sara Sampaio is on board as Lex's assistant/lover Eve Teschmacher, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell will play "Ma" and "Pa" Kent, and Milly Alcock's Supergirl has been confirmed to make her debut ahead of her own Woman of Tomorrow movie.

"And that’s a wrap," Gunn posted earlier this year when filming concluded. "God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set - and for that I am forever grateful."

@RegularPoochie - Speaking of that Thor movie, I've encountered adult aged brats like that Thor. Nothing can change them into better people.

@PartyKiller - “Nothing can change them into better people”

What if you kick them out of their home, strip them of all but their clothes, and drop them in the middle of a town of 3000 people? Then have them do battle with a giant robot to see if he’d make the sacrifice to help a few people he just met?

Not to get too specific but I think that’d work for some people.

I think it would be better if this went the way of the Batgirl film! It would signal to the company shareholders that they have learned their lessons from the past and will not fail again at trying to copy Marvel like they did for the past ten years.

@Forthas - This whole DCEU 2.0. they're working on never should've happened in the first place. Isolated shared universes for each character like what Reeves is doing would've been the way to go.

@OriginalGusto1 - Any evidence that may exist of that conversation would not be admissable in a court of law

@TheJok3r - why is that? The general audience like teamups. Avengers, Xmen, even Kong and Gozilla.

As long as both sides of main DCU and elseworld are handled well, nothing to worry about.

With the DCU, we get to see how these comicbook properties should be handled creatively. Gunn learned a lot of lessons from Marvel.

Marvel had its time but they ruined it themselves
TheJok3r
TheJok3r - 11/12/2024, 12:19 AM
@vectorsigma - Why do something that you already did once and failed spectacularly ? Each character having their own shared universe is fresh and different from what they did before, and from what Marvel is doing. There's also the fact that the creatives behind each universe will have far more creative freedom than they would working together in the same sandbox.
vectorsigma
vectorsigma - 11/12/2024, 12:27 AM
@TheJok3r - it was obvious that snyder's dceu failed due to creative shortcomings.

And marvel is failing because of the lack of it nowadays due to management interference.

As I mentioned, Gunn for sure learned a lot of lessons and i have high hopes he wont put his creatives on a leash being one himself.

We just happen to get a great penguin show so some prefer that they take the reeves route. Before release, i dont think it was very much talked about or people were excited about it, but here we are.

@TheJok3r - "Isolated shared universes for each character"
Do you think the Penguin should exist in his own universe separate from Batman?

"There's also the fact that the creatives behind each universe will have far more creative freedom than they would working together in the same sandbox."

Like the writers, director and showrunner of The Penguin?
TheJok3r
TheJok3r - 11/12/2024, 3:59 AM
@ObserverIO -

The Penguin is a character within the Batman universe, thus part of his shared universe. Superman, Supergirl, Lex Luthor, etc... would all be part of the same universe.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 11/12/2024, 4:03 AM
@TheJok3r - The Penguin was not written and directed by Matt Reeves, does this not constrain it creatively?
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 11/12/2024, 4:08 AM
Also, Supergirl was created to be a character in the DC Universe, a universe that includes Batman.

And the Falcones were created to be characters in a universe with Superman in it.

@HistoryofMatt - I was thinking a teaser during that Christmas week DC would be featured and the first FULL trailer at the Superbowl (kinda like how Marvel handled it with DP&W).

Oh well, it's like they decided to come out of the gates swinging full force.
