Since we got word that David Corenswet was chosen to play our new Man of Steel in James Gunn's Superman: Legacy, we've seen quite a bit of fan-art doing the rounds online, but this latest image might be the best yet.
Shared by Reel Anarchy (if anyone knows the original creator, please let us know in the comments), this artwork seamlessly morphs the Pearl actor into the iconic DC Comics hero, and may give us a pretty good indication of how he'll actually look in the upcoming movie.
Corenswet does look quite a bit like previous big-screen Superman Henry Cavill here, but there is also a slight resemblance to Christopher Reeve.
As for the costume, Gunn has confirmed that the suit will retain its classic design, so this may not be too far off the mark
“Superman: Legacy is the true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe. Not only is Superman an iconic part of DC lore, he is also a favorite character for comic book readers, viewers of earlier movies, and fans around the world," said Gunn during the DCU slate announcement. "I can’t wait to introduce our version of Superman who audiences will be able to follow and get to know across films, movies, animation and gaming.”
Superman: Legacy will also star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. Casting is currently underway for Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White.
Production is currently scheduled to commence next January.
