SUPERMAN: LEGACY Fan Art Transforms Isabela Merced Into The DCU's New Hawkgirl

New fan art for Superman: Legacy has been revealed which sees Madame Web star Isabela Merced transform into the DCU's new Hawgirl...and she looks seriously badass. Take a closer look after the jump!

With Hollywood's actors on strike, it's going to be a long time before we get any official casting news for upcoming superhero movies like Fantastic Four and Superman: Legacy

That's unlikely to slow the rumour mill down, but earlier this month, it was confirmed that James Gunn's Superman reboot will feature Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Such a large number of superheroes being thrown into the mix has raised many an eyebrow, but the filmmaker insists they're essential in order to show the "super" side of Clark Kent's life. Of all those additions, however, we'd argue that Hawkgirl is probably the most exciting.

Last October, DC fans were disappointed when she was absent from Black Adam. Dwayne Johnson previously said there was a good reason for that, though Kendra Saunders was never mentioned (so if there were sequel plans for her, they were being kept a closely guarded secret).

Now, some newly revealed fan art - by @youssef_defenshi - offers an idea of what Merced could look like suited up as the DCU's badass new Hawkgirl.

Superman: Legacy won't mark Merced's superhero movie debut as she's set to play Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl in next year's Madame Web. We don't anticipate seeing the actress suit up there given Sony Picture's track record, and it may well be a one-and-done appearance.

"Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas," reads the movie's synopsis. "He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned."

Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theaters on July 11. 2025.

With the ammount of heroes cast for this movie I'm growing scared of the final product.
I hope this movie will be good but it should soley focus on Clark...

@Blergh - Movie's gonna be awesome. Universe is gonna fail. Again.

Do you think that maybe one day someone will have the restraint and the patience to actually develop a DC cinematic universe? Would be nice if it happened before I died of a record-breakingly old age.

@ObserverIO - We’ll see, I wasn’t the biggest fan of TSS but I generally trust Gunn thanks to his Troma days meaning he knows how to compromise.
But introducing so many heroes in a solo movie sounds risky to me.

I’d argue that WB should focus on their Matt Reeves Batman universe, surprise introduce Lois, Clark and Jimmy in the sequel as annoying reporters and have a moment between Bruce and Clark ultimately motivating him to suit up himself in a later solo movie. Nothing more but a cameo, that’s it.
Later perhaps introduce Oliver as a foil to Bruce.

But generally use the Reeves verse as a jumping off point for a fully rebooted universe

Hoping Gunn goes with classic/animated series inspired looks for these heroes and not this style. Also, no way they have her stomach exposed like this. Not in today's world lol.

Does AI art count as FanArt nowadays? Kind of diminishes the effort put forth by actual fan artist who put time into their work.
Maybe just label it AI generated fanart.

And where’s the damn helmet?

@slickrickdesigns - couldn't agree more. If AI "artists" would just call it what it is, it wouldn't be so damned cringe. Typing in words to let a computer do the actual creative work for them is not being an artist.
