Superman The Man Of Steel Isn't Landing in Vancouver...Just Yet

Despite recent reports of Warner Bros' taking Zack Snyder's Superman reboot to Vancouver, Canada for production, new reports clarify that the green-lite" hasn't been lit.

Earlier today, a report indicated that director Zack Snyder would be returning to "VanCity" Vancouver, in Canada for production on Warner Bros' Man Of Steel reboot. However, coming from The Vancouver Sun, things hasn't been "nailed down", the green-lite hasn't been lit, and in other words:

Susan Croome of the B.C. Film Commission says,“I haven’t had any confirmation that Superman is green-lit for Vancouver in 2011. We do know that Zack Snyder had a really great experience here on 'The Watchmen' and 'Sucker Punch', and we’re hopeful the experience he had in the past will lead to new productions.”

Peter Leitch of Mammoth and North Shore Studios says,“It’s difficult to talk about movies like that specifically, because we never know 100-per-cent if they’re coming here. We’re pretty comfortable that Zack Snyder’s [next] movie is coming here, but there are factors in all these productions which delay them, or for whatever reason they change their mind and do something differently...until they’re on the ground here and working and we know they’re here, there’s no certainty. It gets a little bit awkward when we talk about specific projects like that.”

Surly, a filming location will be determined in time for Zack Snyder to direct The Man Of Steel into theaters Winter 2012. What do you think?

Now that you guys mention it... Lobo, Metallo if they wanna CGI the suit anyway, Mongul would be a nice showdown too actually do the late 80's early 90's Comic book arch were he is actually on War World and rips Mongul a new one... enough with LEX... PS If Mr Snyder does read this South Africa host of the world cup has a brand new State of the art Studio in Cape Town... think how cheap your production cost will be shooting here Sir... Doomsday was shot partly on location here Sir..

This troubles me, seeing as Vancouver is where Smallville has been filmed for the past 9 seasons, could this possibly lead to Welling being cast as Supes? If they plan to use the same backdrop for Metropolis, they might as well use the same Superman right?

Well when filming starts I'll try to get my hands on some pics of the set and share 'em up here. I've seen signs and passed by so many areas where they we're shooting, one of my bus rides to school got delayed because a funeral scene was being shot and there had to be no noise of traffic at that moment. Me and my friends were behind Aaron Ashmore,(who played Jimmy Olsen and who's twin brother is Shawn, who played Iceman), in line to KFC at the movie theatre, just thought I'd share that...

They generally shoot up here to save money. In most cases, they still have a lot of pre and post production work done in the US for the same projects. I'm not aware of any that were 100% in Canada.

Its silly that its taking them this long to get the locations for filming all set. Either way, I'm pretty excited for this, thank goodness Marvel will NEVER GET THE RIGHTS TO SUPERMAN, because I'm sure they'd screw it up like everything else lately... :)

I've got a bad feeling about this movie that they are going to completely cock it up. When will they start to listen to the fans......fans which are going to make this movie a success or not. Why mess about with the very soul of supes movies.......the intro music , the flyby intro names etc , the flyby by supes at the end of every movie , the suit......the suit for goodness sake , why mess about with it , what's wrong with the classic reeve look and please put the insignia on the cloak aswell.
I am a Massive fan of superman and they should give the job to me , I'd put the wheel back on........sorry rant over.

@Superguy1591- To be honest...for me and as you've stated before for yourself. Superman WAS and STILL IS- Tim Daly. HE had the voice, build and kept Supes both relevant and made him a total badass even.

I am getting sick of the Donner version. First off- he NEVER fought a REAL villain. The classic rogues gallery was never even touched-upon beyond that of- Luthor and Zod. And worst of all? Kent was a total clumsy, sac of crap.

Unlike the majority here, I still say Lex MUST be in this film, he just can't be the main villain. Have him on the side pulling the strings :)

Also on an ending note for the night Superguy1591- I pray Snyder won't bow to these routh-people and will instead DO WHAT IS RIGHT and give Superman a proper reboot. NO MORE DONNER DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am SO [frick]ING FED UP WITH DONNER, CHRIS REEVE and the damn Williams theme. It is a REBOOT people!

The Reeve-Superman is dead and buried, LITERALLY :)

Maybe put Reeve's corpse on the big screen and have him do a film version of the "Death of Superman" LOL hey it'd be more exciting than his other Superman films. The Donner flicks are OUTDATED and should never have been resurrected. Bryan Singer is a GOD DAMN MORON and Brandon Routh can eat shit and die- HE NEVER WAS AND NEVER WILL BE SUPERMAN.

People put Chris Reeve on this..."throne" as if HIS LOOK and HIS VERY BEING are the only qualities directors must find when casting. But that is soooo wrong, they need to cast for SUPERMAN. NOT reeve.

In some ways I hate Reeve for creating this...cult-personality out of people. Almost like they are [frick]ing zombies "huuuurgh...we...must...have...reeve...huuuurgh...we...must...have...routh...because...he...looks...like...reeve...hurrrgh!!"

God, can't you [frick]ing people move the [frick] on already??? Can't you [frick]ing people think for yourselves instead of clinging to the ball-sacs of Reeve, Donner and Routh??? Reeve's Superman wasn't even all that great. He was boring as [frick] and yeah I"m going to say it- his Clark Kent seemed more like he belonged on the short-bus.

I say- [frick] donner's version. It is DONE. I mean shit, the Donner version took over 4 films already AND even trailed into the 2006 film. That makes it- 5 [frick]ING films and they were all boring and never had a REAL villain. [frick], 5 films and only 2 of the classic rogues from the comics were used. That is a [frick]ing disgrace. I can't wait until Snyder's version totally and completely DESTROYS the Donner/Singer versions.

Ok , sorry let me clear something up. The singer superman suit was wrong....just wrong. I don't mind cgi for the suit as long as it's done correctly and not a gimmick , so I'm not opposed to moving on , but let's just keep a few things as I've mentioned.

You wouldn't change the theme music to star wars , jaws etc would you?

I don't mind luthor again , but let's move on with him , why not have him don his superhero suit......mego figure anyone? And make him more fabric to the movie......he finds doomsdays ship encased in the pole.......bit of a collaboration against supes?

Brainiac.......what a character to potentially have.

As for this Africa story.......please , no , it's just wrong.

Louise lane.....no thanks....or very minimal.

As for donners movies......love the original , as for his supes2 , I can see why wb were not happy with it. The revised spes2 is so much better.

@LP4 As a fan of the Donner films AND the Chris Reeve portrayal, I will speak for me and say that I have moved on, but I hold those films and Reeve in such high regard because they set the standard for future comic book films. You can agree or disagree, but it's the truth. Do we need to see a fresh take? Yes. However, I still will pull out those Donner movies and watch them.
