Zack Snyder To Return To The DC Universe With Guest Appearance In TEEN TITANS GO!

Zack Snyder will make a surprise return to the DC Universe through a guest appearance in a Season 8 episode of Cartoon Network's Teen Titans Go!

Zack Snyder has had a fascinating journey in the DC universe over the past two years. After years of online campaigns asking for his version of Justice League to be released, the director got to complete his version of the film, Zack Snyder's Justice League, which came out on HBO Max in early 2021.

The film's premiere prompted new efforts from the director's fanbase to get him to return to the DCEU with the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse hashtag. However, Warner Bros. confirmed that Snyder's take on the franchise was over. Then, early in July, a report from Rolling Stone shared troubling allegations regarding the Snyder Cut movement and the alleged methods utilized to make Zack Snyder's Justice League a reality.

Now, while it appeared that the director's involvement in the DC Universe had come to an end, he is going back into the fold of the superhero world for an unexpected project: Teen Titans Go!

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, during the "Cartoon Network: Winner Takes All" panel, it was announced that Snyder will be making a guest appearance in Teen Titans Go!'s upcoming Season 8, in the episode "365!" which, as the title implies, will be the 365th episode of the series.

The director took to Twitter to share an official still from his appearance, stating: "Hey DC fans! I am so excited to be a special guest in an upcoming episode of Teen Titans Go! Check it out THIS FALL on Cartoon Network."

"365!" is expected to come out fall 2022.

As THR explain, the episode centers around the Teen Titans going to Warner Bros. looking for a director to helm their 365th episode, which leads them to cross paths with Snyder. Cartoon Network also reacted to the announcement, tweeting: "Acclaimed Filmmaker [Zack Snyder] will make his first appearance in Teen Titans Go! this [fall]."

This is a particularly meta reference for the traditionally fourth-wall-breaking series, which made fun of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's infamous "Martha" scene in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.

While Snyder's role in Teen Titans Go! could prompt some of his fanbase to ask for his vision of the DCEU to continue, that's unlikely to happen. As previously mentioned, former WarnerMedia CEO Ann Sarnoff confirmed in 2021 that there were no plans to revisit Zack Snyder's DC Universe.

Then, during SDCC 2022, DC's Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee stated that the director's version of the franchise came to an end with Zack Snyder's Justice League (via CBR.com):

"You know what's amazing, is that we spent two years in lockdown, and here we are, back at a convention, celebrating the art form, feeling good. I work on the projects that are in development. And so, I think the 'Snyder Cut' was Zack's vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story told, but there's no plans for additional work on that material."

Season 8 of Teen Titans Go! does not have a release date, but is expected to come out later in 2022. The show is available to stream on HBO Max.
