First RISE OF THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Teaser Trailer Released By Nickelodeon

The new designs for Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo and Donatello have sparked some minor controversy but will those complaints be laid to rest when fans see the new-look Ninja Turtles in action?

"Nickelodeon's going the Teen Titans Go! route with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"

These complaints and worse were levied at the upcoming 2D action-comedy cartoon adaptation of the TMNT from Mirage Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios. However, we now have our first footage to analyze, which just might convert a few naysayers.

The series features the voice talents of Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leonardo,  Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raphael, Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donatello, Brandon Mychal Smith (You’re The Worst) as Michelangelo, Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April O’Neil and Eric Bauza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Splinter. There's no sign of the Shredder in the series as the main villain,  Baron Draxum, will be voiced by WWE-wrestler, John Cena.

There's still no release date but the teaser trailer says the new series is coming soon.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles follows the band of brothers - Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo - as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. Co-executive produced by Andy Suriano and Ant Ward, the 26-episode series will debut on Nickelodeon later this year.

Not my thing at all, but I guess kids will dig it.

@GoldGuy - And...first? :P

But seriously, I haven't liked a TMNT cartoon since the 2003 series, which knew how to balance the wackiness and the serious stories.

It's even worse than expected.

Well, this can't be worse than TTG and the new Powerpuff Girls, right?

Looks like a cartoon you'd see in GTA

Bleh.

Also, slightly OT: I finally got around to seeing that second Bay-produced Ninja Turtles movie. Christ almighty, that was awful!

@MUTO123 - Man. You know I was actually hyped for it when it was coming out. I mean you,had Keanu, Bebop, Rocksteady and Shredder all in one movie. I thought "Okay they can't [frick] it up". Then I saw the film and was pissed that whole summer.

@DeadWade213 - Keanu the Utrom?

Both Michael Bay movies were terrible. They both had merits, here and there, but just not enough of them.

Would love to see a gritty reboot that actually takes itself seriously. That's the best thing about the TMNT; The dichotomy. The earnest absurdity.

TMNT: City At War, please. R-rated. Forget trying to get the kids to come see it. They didn't go see the last two movies, did they?

what's with good shows being replaced with awful reimaginings that skimp on the animation? Transformers Prime, TMNT, Teen Titans, PowerPuff Girls, Spectacular Spiderman, Avengers EMH.

@Spidey91 - This is what happens when the Snowflake Generation creates our entertainment. All those participation trophies have them thinking EVERYTHING they do is amazing.
GwenLantern
GwenLantern - 3/24/2018, 4:12 AM
@Luminus - "Snowflake Generation"? Watch Fight Club again, Snowflake does not mean what you or any alt-right/Trump supporters think it means, politically.
Luminus
Luminus - 3/24/2018, 11:00 PM
@GwenLantern - I don't support that monster nor am I alt-right. What a ridiculous claim. Snowflake means exactly what I said. Do you really think a person who gets participation trophies could handle Fight Club? Really??? Stop being disingenuous.

@Luminus - Sooo I mean... is the snowflake generation the one that grew up after Fight Club? I mean... Are they already working in the entertainment industry? 'cause I'm pretty sure most of twenty something saw fight club it's kind of mainstream nowadays.
Luminus
Luminus - 3/29/2018, 12:16 AM
@Osborn - You know exactly what I mean, because I spelled it out for you. Participation trophies and everyone's a winner attitudes started being NOTICED around 10-15 years ago. So, basically, people under 25. It doesn't mean all of them are, so you can miss me with that straw man argument I suspect you're attempting here.
Osborn
Osborn - 3/29/2018, 12:11 PM
@Luminus - Hey I'm not trying to antagonize you man I don't say that this participation trophy mentality doesn't exist it's just that if your argument was toward the show's creators they're probably over 25. If you meant that what we get here with this TMNT reboot is what you get when you aim your show at this "snowflake" generation then I have nothing to say it's your opinion but I feel this show is getting the same shit Spectacular Spiderman got before release for having a so-called "childish" artstyle, I don't say it will prove everyone wrong as Spectacular Spider-Man did but it shows that maybe judging it so harshly for its general artstyle isn't a good idea.

On a more general note it's not because something like this has been noticed that it's the only defining factor of an entire generation, life is maybe more complex than that so I don't get why you seem so upset about this.
Luminus
Luminus - 3/31/2018, 11:39 PM
@Osborn - Not upset. There's no tone in text. Maybe we should all adopt the Elcor way of speech for web discussion.

They Teen Titan Go'd it

This looks terrible in every respect
Osborn
Osborn - 3/29/2018, 12:17 PM
@Scarilian - Yeah, no that is a ridiculous claim, Teen Titan Go shifted the focus of the original from action to random comedy and never really hid this creative direction and man I don't see anything like this in this trailer it still seems action-packed and classic heroes battle villains drama.
I get that you can have issues with the design but it's very far from the oversimplistic designs of Teen Titan Go.

In my 32-1/2 years of life, I have never said anything negative about the TMNT...until today! What in the world did I just watch? That thing was awful. I get the show is for kids, but good lord that was bad!

I’ll stick to reading the original black and white comics. It’s violent, funny, and it has character!
