Superman's role in The Flash has long been discussed and it appears to be something that's changed on several occasions since cameras first started rolling.
Initially, with Warner Bros. looking to move on from Henry Cavill's Man of Steel, the plan was for him to be permanently replaced by Sasha Calle's Supergirl. However, once that Black Adam cameo fell into place, he was inserted back into the DCEU...only to be taken back out after the formation of DC Studios.
We now don't expect to see much at all of this Superman, and a new Korean trailer for The Flash may spoil the extent of his cameo. As you can see below, Barry Allen sees his fellow Justice League member saving the day while tackling an erupting volcano.
However, just like in the Smallville series finale, the character is only shown from a distance, meaning that could be literally anyone wearing the iconic red and blue suit. It's a cop-out, but probably the only option the movie had to establish Supes as part of this world before Barry inadvertently removes him from the timeline.
Check out the new trailer for The Flash below.
Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian...albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
The movie stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton.
The Flash races into theaters on June 16.
