THE FLASH: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Jokes That "Michael Keaton Swooped In And Took My Gig" As Batman

It was really beginning to look like The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan might play Batman in The Flash, but with Michael Keaton in talks to reprise the role, the actor weighs in on his involvement.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan made a brief cameo appearance as Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and as soon as it became clear that The Flash movie would adapt the "Flashpoint" storyline, fans started campaigning for the actor to return as that alternate universe version of the Dark Knight.

As you'll know if you've read the comic book storyline, the different world Barry Allen finds himself in after travelling back in time to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash saw Bruce Wayne gunned down in front of his parents. That resulted in Thomas becoming Batman, and Martha being transformed into a sinister new version of The Joker.

However, Michael Keaton being in talks to reprise the role of Batman from Tim Burton's classic movies means that the chances of seeing Morgan play the Caped Crusader are slim.

He acknowledged that during a recent interview with ComicBook.com, and offered fans a glimmer of hope. "Michael Keaton swooped in and took my gig," Morgan joked. "Naw, I think that’s super cool. Ever since Zack Snyder walked away, my whole kind of bit in that world has walked away with him. However, there’s always a chat going on. So, we’ll see!"

It definitely sounds like there were more concrete plans in place for The Walking Dead star before Snyder's time in the DC Extended Universe came to an end, but it seems as if we'll forever be left wondering what might have been. With any luck, he'll at least get to make a cameo appearance...

Also, isn't JDM in talks for a role in The Boys season 3? That feels like a much more exciting opportunity than whatever... this is turning into.

@tmp3 - nothing specific, just thought it would be nice. DC loves legacy casting.

@dracula - That sounds corny and like it'd take me out of the movie. Just because some DC things love legacy casting doesn't mean that Matt Reeves is gonna do the same thing even if it makes no sense.

You never know Jeff, with a Multiverse, they could always take the opportunity to...basically even make a one-shot movie with Bat-Thomas, instead of a Flashpoint plot point, it could turn into an Elseworld/"What If?" type of movie.

If the Flash movie is really called Flashpoint then that's fricking sad, cause that's not how i wanted t- i mean, mofos probably are just gonna pick a couple of plot points from the comic and that's it, no Atlantis vs. Amazons no nothing, so f*ck this shit.

Why butcher a damn good storyline like that? Marvel Studios ADAPTED Civil War, they obviously changed things, also because they were forced to do so, considering they couldn't count on the muggas, but you know...they tried i guess.

The movie could still be pretty good and i AM hella hyped to see Keaton back as Bats, but c'mon...don't call it a Flashpoint...

@Doomsday8888 - really first flash movie shouldnt use time travel or reverse flash at all. Should start off with Captain Cold and maybe 3 other rogues

@dracula
Y'all maybe hate The Flash tv show now, but S1 was f*cking DOPE and it actually handled a small part of the Flashpoint story pretty damn well.
And i mean everything they did with Barry's origin story, how he lost his mother, with his dad in jail.

That's ALSO Flashpoint, fam.

So yeah, i'm actually not against using time travel in the very first movie, but mostly just to show the f*cked up things Eobard did with the timeline and not exactly with Barry learning how to time travel...too soon for all that.
