Once again, the reboot for
The Greatest American Hero is back on the tracks, after a previous attempt by The LEGO Movie and the upcoming Miles Morales animated film's
Phil Lord and Chris Miller failed to get their crack at a reboot off the ground in 2014. Ordered to a put-pilot commitment as a half-hour, single camera comedy, the new incarnation of the series will be headed by
Fresh Off The Boat's own Rachna Fruchbom. The new iteration of the show will feature a woman as the leading role, an Indian-American woman named Meera. A brief synopsis of the show, per
Deadline, who broke the story:
Written by Fruchbom, the re-imagining of Greatest American Hero centers on Meera, a 30-year-old Indian-American woman from Cleveland whose talents include tequila drinking, karaoke and not much else. Then some aliens entrust her with a super suit to protect the planet, and the world has never been in more unreliable hands.
Between this new show, Marvel's Inhumans, and that reported female-led Marvel show also in development for ABC, it seems in the coming future there is no shortage of superhero television coming from ABC. Who knows, there might even be a crossover! If Bones and Sleepy Hollow can have one, anything is possible! (And yes, that really happened. And yes, it went exactly how you imagine two shows like that crossing over would go.) Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below!
