THE FLASH Producer Assures Fans The Movie Won't Be Next On The Chopping Block After BATGIRL Was Scrapped

THE FLASH Producer Assures Fans The Movie Won't Be Next On The Chopping Block After BATGIRL Was Scrapped THE FLASH Producer Assures Fans The Movie Won't Be Next On The Chopping Block After BATGIRL Was Scrapped

There's not a huge amount of positivity surrounding The Flash movie in light of recent events, but if you're among those hoping the plug will be pulled on the movie, then you won't like this update...

The Flash movie was first announced a week after the TV show premiered on The CW, so yeah, it's taken quite a long time for the Scarlet Speedster's solo outing to become a reality. It's been through a number of filmmakers and creative teams over the years, but It helmer Andy Muschietti was finally able to crack the story and bring Barry Allen back to the big screen.

With the return of Michael Keaton as Batman and Sasha Calle's debut as Supergirl, there are plenty of reasons to look forward to The Flash. However, it also appears to be a watered-down version of Flashpoint, with General Zod serving as a big bad of sorts in place of Reverse-Flash.

Regardless, all of that has been overshadowed by recent controversies surrounding Ezra Miller.

Fans have made it clear that the actor's shocking behaviour in public has dampened their interest in The Flash, though there's really no reason why Warner Bros. Discovery can't promote the movie minus its lead star. How much the wider audience cares about those headlines is also hard to gauge, especially when Miller hasn't been found guilty of any major crimes in a court of law.

This likely explains comments from The Flash producer Barbara Mischietti in the wake of Batgirl's cancellation. In a screenshot shared on social media, she can be seen assuring a worried fan on Instagram that "all is good in Flash land."

With reports that The Flash's budget has ballooned to upwards of $300 million, there's no way Warner Bros. is scrapping the potential blockbuster. It's the type of cinematic movie new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is looking for, so like it or not, it isn't about to be turned into a tax write-off.

The Flash is set to race into theaters on June 23, 2023.

I still think they’ll change the ending when/if this film comes out. Setting up Keaton as Batman of this universe wouldn’t make sense since I doubt we’ll see him again after Batgirl being cancelled and them putting Affleck into Aquaman. Like I said in another post, just put in Pattison at the end if they HAVE to have a new Batman at end of the film.

@Twenty23Three - lol zero chance of Battinson showing up. That would diminish the brand and put that entire series at risk.

@Dabs - oh I don’t think it’ll happen. I don’t think that any of that could have an affect on the Batman series though

@Twenty23Three - no, what is it with you guys and needing to have all the characters interact? It doesn’t equate to a superior product, in fact, a lot of the DC characters work best, totally separate. As they kind of were originally intended. We already know Matt Reeves movie and universe is its own thing, a lot more grounded, way superior than your typical mcu or dceu crap. That would be a totally idiotic move either way, why would you want to sully your hottest product going (Reeves / Pattinson Batman) by associating it noches with Ezra Miller but the shared continuity movies? It’s already proven they’re a bust

TheVengeance - 8/4/2022, 9:44 AM
@Twenty23Three - sure it would. It’s a separate entity. Why would they even need to have Pattinson’s Batman in it? At this point don’t ruin Keaton’s take either. Just give us the same boring Batfleck crap for the shared universe.

@TheVengeance - I literally never said I wanted it to happen. Don’t let that get in the way jumbled rant though

@Twenty23Three - But you’ve brought it up a number of times, why would Warner Bros. combine Robert Pattinson’s characters with the much-maligned, and in this case criminal actor who isn’t going to be the flash going forward? Why would they do that? It would destroy the credibility of the Robert Pattinson version, which we already know, is segregated from all the stupid cross character pollination nonsense. They’re never going to be marvel, they did it first, and their characters are better suited for it. The lesson to be learned from the most successful movies, wonder woman Solo movie, Aquaman Solo movie, now, the Batman Solo movie. Just make a good movie about one character, that’s DC niche

@Kumkani - the new dc - where women of color aren't allowed to lead films, but white pedophiles are. nice 👍

@tmp3 - DC makes a lot of stupid decisions and not cancelling Flash is one of the worst ones, but don't think this has anything to do with race. They changed Batgirl's race to begin with when they didn't have to, so why would that have been a reason to then cancel the movie.

still feel like it's gonna get shitcanned though. maybe zaslav will find a way to rebrand this as some streaming exclusive and then find a tax loophole. just cannot see any scenario in which an almost $300m kids film is released starring an accused groomer, the optics of that are insane - even for warner bros.

@tmp3 - should've scrapped this instead of Batgirl. 300m vs. 90m, I think the former must be the bigger tax write-off right?

@DrReedRichards -

I was thinking yesterday, how is the press gonna look like for this film?

Ezra is a alleged kid groomer and kidnapper. He is on video chocking a woman. He has problems with abuse in Hawaii.

Keaton has been deleted from the Batgirl and Aquaman 2. Do they expect Keaton to be enthusiastic during press?😬

Keaton can't catch a break lately. First he's forced to do the worst post-credits scene in CBM history, and now this? Dude has every right to be pissed.

Even though I dislike the way the actor handles himself I still have faith that Muschietti constructed a good movie.

There's no way WB.D are going to cancel it. the bill is twice as heavy as Batgirl.

The best WB can hope for is if the guy gets help or tops himself. I'm hoping he actually gets help.

@Waddles - I think it's something like only if Batgirl get's monetized to a streamer or theaters they have to pay out more from the productions and then marketing cost with the VFX still to be finished. so they cut their losses.

But if they already spent 200 plus on The flash and they write it off there's no way to recoup what's beens spent.

So much more of a loss where as if it still gets released they can make something out of it. I don't fully get it myself but I imagine we'll hear more soon.

Wonder why they didn't scrap this one? They poured way more into this than in Batgirl, so the tax write-off must be bigger right?
