BOX OFFICE: $75 Million? THOR: THE DARK WORLD Actually Looks Set For A $90 Million Opening

While analysts for The Hollywood Reporter predicted a fairly conservative $75 million opening for Thor: The Dark World next month, the experts over at BoxOffice.com have taken that information (along with their own tracking metrics) and concluded that a debut of $90 million is far more likely. That would be an extremely impressive increase of 38% when compared to Thor's opening weekend back in 2011, something the site puts down to the positive effect on all future Marvel Studios movies thanks to the massive success of The Avengers. After all, if moviegoers weren't familiar with the God of Thunder before the release of that superhero ensemble, they will be by now. As of this moment, Thor: The Dark World is reportedly posting 182% more Twitter discussion than Iron Man 3 did at the same point in its release cycle, and 13.5% more than The Avengers. That's by no means an indication that it will perform as well as those movies, but the sequel is almost guaranteed to be a success at this point. They even mention that a $100 million debut can't be taken off the table right now. How much do you guys think it will earn? Sound off below!

Marvel’s "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s "Thor" and "Marvel’s The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
