Chris Hemsworth Questioned Going Shirtless For Scene In THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Revealing whose idea it was, Chris Hemsworth tells MTV News about an additional scene that required him to bare his torso, even though he had to ask 'why,' "without sounding like an idiot." Check it out!

According to MTV News, there's a scene close the beginning of Thor: The Dark World that sees the God of Thunder "reflect on a successful battle with a quick splash of water on his bare torso." When Chris Hemsworth was asked about the sure fangirl pleaser, he revealed the idea actually came from The Avengers director Joss Whedon. "That kind of came from Joss actually. He just said that there needed to be something romantic in there," Hemsworth said. "Then he said, 'Chris, get your shirt off.' I said, 'Well, I don't know. What's the why? What are we doing?' The justification was that it was him coming home from battle, washing blood off his hands. It is what it is. How to weigh into that without sounding like an idiot?" What do you think?

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. It opens in theaters November 8, 2013.

As long as this shit doesn't become some fagget shit like Twilight...I'm okay-ish with it. But that scene right there sounds pointless and retarded. At least Hemsworth questioned it...problem is he ended up doing it any way. Whatever, I lost all interest in this when the Cap2 trailer came out.

If it's a nude Thor you want to show on screen, don't make some piss poor "Blood cleansing" excuse, have Thor [frick]ing whores in a brothel like he did in Jason Aaron's God of Thunder.

I guess Whedon didn't read the fine print that only guys can have gratuitous eye candy in their movies.

To get the women into the theater would be the better explanation. That would explain Thor Life size standees I've seen at different women's clothing stores the other day at the mall!

From what I've seen, they already have women in the theater. At my job, some of the women in my department wear Thor shirts and one even has an old school Avengers lunchbox that she brings everyday. They're big fans of The Avengers and most of them are going to see Thor: The Dark World when it comes out.

Most CBMs have their heros shirtless in a scene or two e.g. Spider-Man, Wolverine, Batman Begins, MOS, Thor, Captain America:TFA, etc.

So I'm guessing in the next couple months, things will come out about Cap 2 that will make people forget how excited they were about the trailer, and start spitting venom on it as well.
BlackPhillip

@gambgrel

Thor shirtless in TDW isn't a romantic scene since he is cleaning himself after a battle. It's "romantic" as in something to please the lady viewers like the shirtless scene in MOS.

Have you seen Batman Begins? There's a couple of scenes where Bruce is shirtless. Here's one scene where Alfred likes what he sees...lol
