Even with filming concluded, the mysterious role of Romeo actor Colm Feore, in Marvel's much-awaited THOR movie has yet to be revealed, possibly until today. Drew McWeeny of HitFix, who has been to the highly secretive set while filming was underway, may have unintentionally revealed the 51 year old's role.

Giving in-depth thoughts on the THOR footage that Marvel Studios presented at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Drew McWeeny states the following...

"Asgard is gorgeous, and the footage they showed certainly showcased the rich costume design and set work that I saw when I was there. There were shots of pretty much every major character in the film including Colm Feore's Frost Giant character."

I'm sure Mcweeny said this unintentionally, but It seems accurate with Colm Feore once saying "Makeup took me five hours every day, and that made for a very long day", back in May. And despite CGI, bringing Frost Giants to a big-budget live-action flick such as THOR, the their appearance would require long hours to make them believable for audiences May 6, next summer.

Because there are more than one Frost Giant, this doesn't reveal Feore's role exactly, but it does narrow it down. Being such a talented actor, the Frost Giant Feore portrays must be a prominent one. The God of Michief Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is considered the monarch of the Frost Giants in the comics. And Hiddleston recently stated, "At a period in THOR, Loki learns the truth about where he came from; who his parents are, which eventually causes his rage". He also included that the first scenes he filmed were in Jotunheim, home of the Frost Giants.

DCMF - Also in the comics, Odin (Anthony Hopkins) found Loki as a child, after slaying his father Laufey, the King of Frost Giants. And with young actor Paul Thomas Moore basically confirming to me that he'll be playing a younger Loki, I assume there will be a segment in THOR that includes Laufey. And I believe Laufey is who Colm Feore will be playing in the movie.

Now, is he Laufi, or Ymir? In Norse myth Ymir would be dead, but in the comics I'm not sure.

Good deduction on the lineage and timeline. It would be sweet to have a bit of an origin on Loki in this movie.

Has anyone suggested how long the movie will be?
Im hoping its a 2 hour epic at least!

@FullAmpleSally i dont think theyll know that until after they finish cutting it. still a ways off... but when have you ever known Kenneth Branagh to do an epic film shorter than 2 hours? HA!
FullAmpleSally
FullAmpleSally - 7/27/2010, 2:04 PM
@Hela - Very true my friend. Here's hoping he sticks to it. Anything less will be a letdown. There's just way too much story that needs to be told.

I like that they're not completely dependent on CGI. I like that they used such a good actor for this role.

Awesome scoop DCMF! I'm sure that Feore will do a great job whoever he plays but Laufey would be a bonus! :)
