Kat Dennings On Her Extended Role As Darcy In THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Aside from a brief glimpse in the first trailer, Kat Dennings' Darcy has been absent from any Thor: The Dark World promotion so far, but that may be about to change. The character had a pretty minor role in the first film, mainly serving as comic relief -- but it seems that might not be the case with the sequel. At the CBS party for this summer's TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, IGN asked Dennings about the rumors of Darcy having an increased presence in this movie, to which she replied "excitedly":



"Yeah, yes. I mean I don't know how they edit anything, so who knows. I was careful in the first one to underplay everything in case they cut me out of it, but we're about to do some reshoots, so we'll see."


Those reshoots were teased previously by Lady Sif actress Jaimie Alexander who Tweeted: ""Working late in Asgard tonight. Kinda hard to take a nap in armor lol #ForAsgard". Now if Dennings was also present for these reshoots, does this mean we'll see Darcy take a little trip to Asgard too? We'll find out when Thor: The Dark World hits theaters on November 8.

the only extended scene i want to see her in is a soaking wet white t-shirt.

Loved her in the first movie, she definitely needed more screen time and I'm glad they're giving it to her.

She was hilarious and is so beautiful.
More more more.

It actually would be great to see her interact with Tony Stark or even Rocket Raccoon in the future.

I never understood why people found her annoying. I thought she was hilarious in many parts and did not take anything away from the film. Glad to see her back.

Couldn't stand the character in the first Thor, and I was hoping she wouldn't be back for this one, or would at least have a much smaller role. I mean, all she did was whine about her iPod being stolen, that's the most memorable thing she did in that movie. Completely unnecessary character, and probably the worst comic-relief character in a movie since Jar-Jar Binks.

And why was she even there? I mean, what were the in-movie reasons? Jane was a scientist tracking those anomalies, Selvig was her mentor so he was helping her figure it out, but what was Darcy there for? Was she supposed to be a scientist too? She was just there with no explanation.

^ It's mentioned Darcy is a college student taking courses in a field completely un-relateable to that of which Jane is involved in. [frick]ing worthless character. THOR would've been perhaps my favorite solo film, but because of her, it's dropped to my least favorite.

And I know I may be a little harsh cause I just don't like Denning's. Terrible actress and just another kid who got a 1 in a million shot in being in a movie. Even in her interviews, I find her despicable and at the very least an annoyance. HOWEVER, It was her character in THOR that pissed me off. Darcy could've been played by Helen Mirren and I would still want to punch her in the forehead.

Its okay to like her or not to like her based on your opinion.
But this is why its so very hard to ever take any of you guys opinions seriously.
It clearly stated Darcy was Janes intern. She was the ONLY applicant for the job, so Jane took her even though she wasn't studying astrophysics. Even Jane thought she was annoying but was still using her to do the intern work.
The purpose of her character was to provide comic relief for the Earth scenes and to provide a "common persons" view of encountering an extradimensional(God) character for the first time.
Whether or not any of us think it worked out okay or not is irrelevant.

SINCE DARCY IS SUCH A LAME POINTLESS CHARACTER IT WOULD BE PRETTY COOL IF THEY REVEALED HER TO BE HELA IN DISGUISE.

COMBINE HER WITH LOKI AND YOU CAN CRIPPLE ASGARDS DEFENSES JUST ENOUGH FOR SOMEONE TO STEAL THE INFINITY GAUNTLET AND BEGIN THE RODE TO THANOS.
