Marvel Taps IRON MAN 3 Composer Brian Tyler To Score THOR: THE DARK WORLD

It appears Marvel Studios really enjoyed working with Iron Man 3 composer and conductor, Brian Tyler, as word is out that he's now signed on to score Thor: The Dark World. Check it out after the jump!

After parting ways with Twilight composer Carter Burwell over "creative differences" last month, Marvel Studios has apparently locked in a replacement for the upcoming film, Thor: The Dark World. According to Film Music Reporter and other sources, composer, producer and conductor Brian Tyler has signed on to tackle the score of the Alan Taylor-directed sequel. There're no further details provided, but Thor: The Dark World is currently in post-production and apparently underwent minor reshoots very recently. Meanwhile, Brian Tyler has also been tapped to score the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film and past credits include Iron Man 3, The Expendables, Fast Five and Final Destination series. In other Dark World-related news, Heimdall actor Idris Elba promises "there is a story" for the gatekeeper in the much-anticipated Thor follow-up. "The director has gone for a really interesting perspective on the world that Thor comes from," Elba informed Total Film magazine. "But I am there, manning the gate. I think it will be interesting to see what happens from the first film to this film – it’s a really interesting development." What do you think?

Head over to Brian Tyler's official site to listen to samples of his work and more.

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios.

IM3 probably had the best score (along with CA: TFA). I'm down with this.

Brian Tyler's score for IRON MAN 3, BANGKOK DANGEROUS, RAMBO, DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION, F&F: TOKYO DRIFT were all epic. Hope this is true.

^ BANGKOK DANGEROUS? DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION? Let's hope his score was the only redeeming thing in those films.

Wasn't a big fan of the Malibu sounds in im3 but it fits the character, I did like the main hero theme and the darker scene stuff though.

I dunno. Burwell has always had his own style, Tyler is kinda generic. Maybe itll turn out well

This is just me speculating...
I would think the second trailer would be released next month during SDCC, and that would also allow it to be played in front of Wolverine and Elysium, which would be the 2 biggest summer releases left at that time.
Would be the smart thing to do at least.

Has it already been addressed why they don't just get the composer of the original? THOR had a great score.

I think Doyle is booked up with Jack Ryan. He and Branaugh always work together. Jack Ryan is released like 6 or 7 weeks after Thor so they are in similar points of post production.

It sounds like he was the closest person in the room, so Marvel grabbed him. Not the best way to hire someone for a job. Who does the soundtrack for Game of Thrones? Was this person not available.

I blame this on Feige. He's turning into a little fat Napolean.

If I were Marvel, I would get Martin 'Donnell from Bungie. He would do all of the movies. I may give Avengers to Trevor Rabin.

Don't forget Conan the Barbarian.
One of the most original sounding scores ever and usually rated very high on the alltime greats lists.

The soundtrack was okay in IM3, it wasn't terrible. Though the end credits song sounded like it was from a 70's cop show or something.
