Marvel's 'Thor The Dark World' Makes It Onto IMDB's 'Top 10 Highest-Rated Films of 2013'

IMDB has compiled a list of the highest user rated films of 2013, and coming in at number eight on that list is The God Of Thunder himself

The people have spoken, and it seems like 8 is the magic number for Odinson. Not only is his realm hopping sequel a virtual lock for the 8th spot on the list of the highest grossing films of 2013, he has also placed number 8 on IMDB's highest user rated films of 2013 based on user ratings

Per IMDB:

"The top 10 highest-rated movies of 2013. These rankings are based on IMDb user ratings for films released in 2013 with at least 25,000 votes"

Gravity 8.4/10

Rush 8.3/10

Hunger Games Catching Fire 8.1/10

Before Midnight 8.1/10

Prisoners 8.1/10

Captain Phillips 8.1/10

Star Trek Into Darkness 7.9/10

Thor The Dark World 7.6/10

The Conjuring 7.5/10

Despicable Me 7.5/10

While it's critic scores were nothing to write home about, Thor: The Dark World does have the highest user ratings of any of this year's CBMs on the 3 major movie sites (Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB and Metacritic). Also, this list is not to be confused with a list posted a few days ago which featured IMDB's list of the most popular movie pages based on page visits.

With news earlier today that the film has crossed $620M worldwide, Marvel must be more than pleased with the reception to the second solo film featuring the god of thunder

Special shout out to CBM user TheHeat for bringing this to my attention

Personally, I would have enjoyed this so much more if the forced comedy was dropped.

I am all for lighter moments, but running around naked, and girl from 'Two Broke Girls' distracted from the story with a number of awful scenes, which I felt were not needed.

Also, Marvel's connected universe is causing a minor issue with their solo movies: The lack of involvement of other heroes and/or SHIELD. IM3 President is kidnapped and no agents turn up, not even Captain America was sent in, Thor 2 seems to make our Selvig was left to roam free and not helped by SHIELD, and we're not on the scene as they couldn't be phoned. I could be wrong, but remember a couple of moments of them trying to call them.

That said, I did like the movie, just moments like I mentioned stopped me loving it.

I gotta say, I didn't think TDW would be my favorite CBM of 2013 when the year started, and now it is haha. As far the major CBMs of this year goes, I'd say Thor was my favorite, IM3 and MOS are tied for second (can't really decide which one I liked better), and Wolverine would be last (didn't think it was bad, but it was definitely my least favorite CBM of the year.) I didn't see Kick-Ass 2, so I can't rate that one.

It's the Iron-Man 3 syndrome, some loved it, some hated it. There was no inbetween.
Personally, I thought it was one of the best sci-fi films in a long time

@Supes

it was ... how would i call it ... lazy ?

First one was tight and inteligent. This one looked like the writer said "chill", the director said "chill" and the actors all went "chill".

Like they were all having too much fun while making this movie, and forgot they actually should be like ... working ?

So what I'm getting from that is that Star Trek into darkness is an entertaining movie but not as impressive as the first

@Supes

i wouldn't call it entertaining.
But maybe i was too disappointed with the movie to have any real fun while watching it.

maybe @DEVLIN is right. Some people tend to love it, others wanna hunt JJ after watching it. It's a 50/50 case here.

Like my friend gave me a death glare when I didnt even react to the old Spock having a cameo. I was like "so he's like the future old version of him. Ok. So?"
I didnt get any of the old references save for the famous live long and prosper hand gesture

Are you serious? So no Man of Steel or The Wolverine? lol I agree with the rating for Thor. Could've been better couldn't have been worse but it was most certainly an upgrade from the 1st film.
