THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL Will Feature Two THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Characters

Chris Pratt has confirmed that the events of Thor: Love and Thunder will see two of that movie's characters make an appearance when the Guardians of the Galaxy return in this year's Holiday Special...

Thor: Love and Thunder will feature an extended cameo from the Guardians of the Galaxy, and while the God of Thunder is expected to part ways with the team, it appears he'll leave them with something to remember him by. Talking at the movie's world premiere this week, Chris Pratt confirmed that two of the movie's characters will appear in the team's next adventure.

According to Pratt, by the time all is said and done, the Guardians will find themselves lumbered with Thor's screaming goats, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder.

"[Waititi] just wanted to stick James with some goats. James has to pick up where Taika left off, and he stuck us with some space goats," the actor says in the video below (via Screen Rant).

"Typically [MCU directors don’t stick each other with stuff in the background], but I guess Taika kind of plays by his own set of rules. You’ll see there are a few things that he did that I think were kind of an inside joke to play on James," Pratt continues. "It’s a bit of that sort of improv world where you see what you can roll with."

While the actor didn't specify whether he was talking about The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we have to assume it was the former. Remember, director James Gunn has previously confirmed that the Holiday Special will take place between Thor's latest adventure and next year's threequel!

Regardless, it should be fun seeing how this plays out and what Gunn does to no doubt rid the Guardians of their newfound animal allies.

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Thor 3 and guardians 3 will have more continuity than the star wars sequels

@Vigor -
What, wait a minute...

That goes against the rules, no humor in our "Comic" book movies!

James and Taika are indeed goats (or wasn't that the question). Both Ragnarok and both Guardians movies are among my favorite MCU movies, so I look forward to see both their projects flow over into each other's.

Basically everyone seemed to softly ignore/retcon Ragnarok after the fact as much as they could get away with (Russos gave Thor a new eye and weapon, the "clip show" on Loki's first episode didn't include anything from that movie), so Gunn might either use to goats as little as possible or get rid of them with a throwaway line.

@FinnishDude - no. It was the plan. Why wouldn't they use Stormbreaker?

@FinnishDude - Loki didn’t follow the events of ragnarok. It follows the events of Loki in endgame who is from the 2012 timeline not the one who dies in infinity war.

@Antitrollpatrol - They still showed clips from the Dark World and Infinity War, both of which came out after the Avengers.

@Fogs - The climax of Ragnarok was build around Thor not needing a weapon and the true power being inside him, only for the Infinity War to say that Thor does need a weapon to stand a chance in a fight.

Love this interplay between the two franchises, although it does make me hope Marvel give more movies to cosmic characters, because between them and Captain Marvel there is not a deep bench of alien heroes right now

After guardians 2 being pretty disappointing…I was actually happy when people were petitioning Taika to direct guardians 3.

I like Gunn but Jojo Rabbit proves that Taika is just on another level as a director compared to Gunn.
