Thor: Love and Thunder brought Natalie Portman's Jane Foster back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Mighty Thor. In a movie filled with questionable creative decisions, it was a great one, and the character proved to be a highlight.

Marvel.com has shared some photos from Thor: Love And Thunder The Official Movie Special ahead of its release on September 19, showing Portman's Thor suited up and heading into battle alongside Valkyrie. We also have a great shot of Jane reaching for the reformed Mjolnir.

Asked in the magazine how she prepared for her transformation into the Mighty Thor, Portman said: "It was really fun to get to train, for the first time in my life, to be strong. Usually, as women, we’re training to get as small as possible. So it’s exciting to actually be working towards being bigger."

"It was a really great experience. I worked with a great trainer, Naomi Pendergast. And then also doing the stunt training with the stunt team was incredible. That was fun," the actress continues. "I had never done any real training despite having been in lots of action movies, I’d never really done any fight training or anything like that. It was exciting to do flying, take off’s, landings, and that sort of thing."

"The wirework helped achieve that sense of swooping around and helping Valkyrie in battle, or just flying in and out of frame. It was fun to look like I’m flying!"

It's unclear when or where we'll see more of the Mighty Thor, though a post-credits scene left the door open for Portman's return after she was welcomed into Valhalla by Heimdall. After all, it's a regular occurrence in the comic books for Asgardians to leave that realm and make their back way to the land of the living.

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

@mountainman - And it's not even close. It's crazy because I loved Ragnarok. That was one of my favorite mcu movies of all time. So you think same director.. great this will be awesome , but holy crap was I wrong. That movie was a bad joke from start to finish with Thor's opening Van Damme split to Mojnir's jealousy & Heimdal's son's horrible cgi floating head to Thor single fathering Gor "The God Butcher's daughter. Terrible decision after terrible decision from start to finish. I walked out of that movie feeling ripped off

@mountainman - Agree.

A flaming pile of garbage and an atrocity of a film.

Anyone else find it f***ed up that Heimdall dies and goes to Valhalla, and then still ended up as the doorman again.

This was a massive crap show of a film. This is the what happens when you don't take the subject matter seriously and your get directors like James Gunn and Taika Waititi who are only good at doing goofball films. Also to blame are the adolescent comic fans that keep trying to convince everyone that what CBMs need is more color and comedy.

Its the fact Natlie Portman was swole even before she got the powers, when Marvel cared they would have shrunk her arms in post production for those scenes.

Hold up… an article about Love and Thunder that doesn’t go on about Valkyrie’s sexuality? Wowzers.

Remember when all the articles leading up to Love and H to under specified that a major plot point would be Valkyrie finding her queen? Lol.

“Natalie Foster” I see what you’re doing, you purposely put the wrong name just so people will notice and leave a comment and you’re hoping it’ll draw up some page views and comment section traffic.

This film was so mid that I’m over Thor at this point but then again - Phase 4/5 has been mostly mid that I’m over most of the MCU at this point.

Crazy to think Taika and Marvel wasted some of Thors best stories lines by making it a complete joke. Mighty Thor and Gorr were utterly wasted.

@EgoEgor - This movie could've been so good. But wasn't.
