THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER - Taika Waititi Enlists A-List Actress To Play "Hela" In Asgardian Play Scenes

So, we know that Thor: Love and Thunder will feature another Asgardian play, but who will take on the role of Hela in that Thor: Ragnarok recap? Well, we know, and you can find more about the cameo here...

Thor: Love and Thunder will feature another Asgardian play, this time recapping the events of Thor: Ragnarok. It's a clever way to bring fans up to speed on what happened to the God of Thunder the last time we saw him, and an excuse for filmmaker Taika Waititi to deliver some memorable cameos.

Matt Damon, Luke Hemsworth, and Sam Neill have all been enlisted to play Asgardian actors (you can see them in action here), but what about Hela? Well, thanks to Mail Online, we now know that Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy will be taking on the role of Thor and Loki's villainous sister.

Given McCarthy's comedic background, these scenes should be an absolute riot, and it'll be great fun to see what the actress does as she parodies Cate Blanchett's take on Hela.

We also get a better look at the costume Luke Hemsworth will wear as Thor in Love and Thunder, and it's hard not to wonder whether the actual God of Thunder might be decked out in something similar. The gold look definitely pays homage to one of Jason Aaron's runs, so we'll see.

Photos like these obviously don't reveal anything about the movie's plot, so fingers crossed we'll soon learn more about what Marvel Studios has planned for Thor's next adventure.

@ComicBookPsycho - Was it ever meant to have one?

@ComicBookPsycho - I'm not sure what about the title "Love and Thunder" screamed 'darker tone' to people...

@Blergh - Probably the "thunder" part, unless they've had bad relationships.

So I take it they're gonna re-enact the Norway scene. I don't mind the funniness in the Thor movies, but that is the one scene that doesn't need a comedic take
Origame
Origame - 3/2/2021, 5:38 AM
@bkmeijer - it was one of the 5 scenes in Ragnarok that wasn't treated as a joke...until now.

bkmeijer2 - 3/2/2021, 5:54 AM
@Origame - and that's a damn shame in my opinion. But I understand they take this scene, since it has all the major characters from the last one
Origame
Origame - 3/2/2021, 6:33 AM
@bkmeijer - idk, had they done the bridge scene it would've had hela, Thor, and loki while also including valkyrie and hulk.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 3/2/2021, 6:57 AM
@Origame - yeah that would've made sense too. But thats more of an action sequence, which might be hard to do (for what I assume is) a short theatre scene

@bkmeijer - New Asgard is on Earth in Norway (where this play scene will supposedly take place). The scene from Ragnarok they’re reenacting is the one where Odin tells Thor Norway would make a good home. I imagine one has to do with the other, and it’s just a fun way to remind the audience how the original Asgard is gone.

@BloopBlorp2 - I completely forgot New Asgard was in Norway. Now it makes all perfect sense

Well good to know these scenes will be as funny as cleaning my bathroom. God Melissa McCarthy is one of the worst comedians working right now.

@Mrcool210 - I agree. But Taika will reach the funniness from deep inside her and splatter it all over the scene she's in.

Good lord...all the incessant complaining from so many people. Like dude, what do you get out of exclaiming this? Are folks really so miserable they have to whine about anything they can?...

@Fogs - @dracula - There's a difference between expressing your opinion and flat out complaining. It doesn't bother me one bit who you like and don't like. But imagine walking into a room and everyone is just complaining... that's what this thread and many others feel like. So I'm pointing that out because it's not a good look.

Well if the actual Hela survived the last movie and gets a look at who is playing her that would give her extra incentive to wreck vengeance on everyone. Set up for another sequel?
