THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER May Be The Shortest Marvel Studios Movie Since 2018

If a new report is to be believed, Thor: Love and Thunder's runtime makes it Marvel Studios' shortest movie since 2018's Ant-Man and The Wasp, with it clocking in at less than 2 hours. Read on for details!

It appears the runtime for Thor: Love and Thunder has been revealed courtesy of listings shared by theater chains AMC and Cineworld. While nothing is official at this stage, it's looking like the movie will clock in at 119 minutes. At a mere 1 hour, 59 minutes, this would make it the shortest Marvel Studios movie since 2018's Ant-Man and The Wasp (which was a minute shorter).

It will also be only the third MCU movie in the past six years to come in under two hours, with Doctor Strange (115 minutes) preceding the Ant-Man sequel.

Superhero movies have become longer in recent years, something that was evident from the lengthy runtimes of Marvel Studios blockbusters Avengers: Endgame and Eternals. However, the studio appears to have taken a different approach this year as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was also quite a bit shorter than some fans anticipated.

Taika Waititi will have a lot of story to cram into less than two hours if these listings are correct. As well as a fearsome new villain in Gorr the God Butcher, Jane Foster will transform into the Mighty Thor, and Valkyrie is set to go on the hunt for a Queen after being named New Asgard's King.

Tickets for Thor: Love and Thunder are now on sale, and we're hoping that means some new content will drop later today. As of right now, it's just an interview with the cast that you can check out here

2 hours isn't that bad. Let's hope they make it count...unless the credits are long.. though a good idea would be to see the credits roll along side some footage. Has Marvel done that before?

I know they did something like that with GotG.

@UnderBelly

Expect around 8-10 minutes of credits.

@regularmovieguy - let's see.

I also bet there's a ton of stuff that got cut. With that cast and crew I can imagine they were goofing around alot.

I'd be cool seeing a blooper reel along with the credits... but that probably goes against their movie model.

@UnderBelly - Yeah, 2h is pretty ok.

We've been spoiled with those longer films. But it's very well possible to fit a cohesive film in that lenght if the story is straight to the point.

"Ant-Man and The Wasp", which it was compared above, IMO kind of overstayed its welcome a lil' bit.

2 hours is more than enough.

I’m fine with that…. Don’t want things to get bloated.

It may be the shortest Marvel film, but it's still 2hrs, it's not unusually short compared to other films.

1hr 35 mins for the 2017 Dark Tower movie? Now that's a short film, especially considering the epic book it's based on.

@elgaz - Coincidentally I think the Thor films are regularly on the shorter side of the MCU. Ragnarok being the only one that even exceeds 2 hours. Not that runtime is an indicator of quality or anything.

As it’s clearly just another Ragnarok comedy fest the shorter the better I’d say.

Disappointing. Obviously being short doesn’t make a movie bad and being long doesn’t make a movie good but I do think that if you look when it comes to superhero movies that is a strong correlation between the length of a movie and the quality of said movie.

Wasn’t this already debunked a month ago by Chris Hemsworth?

Ragnarok is by far Waititi's longest film at 130 mins, this would still make it his second longest but he's clearly an economic filmmaker. Really looking forward to this one, think it's gonna be my favorite from Marvel in a while. Already got my tickets for the 7th.

Who cares how long it is, as long as it’s good…

Am I the only one who just wishes they'd put all the funds they use on feature films into D+ and just give us all Marvel on D+. It's longer than a film and just as enjoyable.

Good, we need to get back to 90 minute action movies. Not everything needs to be 2h45m

I guess this means that the movie is bad. :(

Oh, well. They had a good run.
